I may be towing a boat trailer, with an estimated weight of 2400 lbs, on short distances (less than 5 miles) slow speed, with my 2.7L auto, no tow package.

Should I tow in "3" or does it matter, in the above situation?

The 2.7/auto should pull it the distance with no problems. As for what gear, it depends on whether you're in a hilly/mountainous terrain.

    Fucking look it up
Keep it In D unless your truck starts searching for gears then pop it into 3rd and leave it there

No problems, I tow similar fairly often and further to boot. 2.7/auto RC 4x4. I recommend keeping it in 3rd unless going 60+mph. It probably won't shift to 4th anyway except downhill.

You'll have no problem. My old 2.7 hauled like a beast and stumbled up steep mountains but listen to the engine, don't push it too hard by keeping the Revs up.
