    Obviously I didn't look closely enough at the picture. I honestly thought they didn't come out until 1965, but according to what I read online, the Barracuda actually came out 2 weeks prior to the Mustang. Who knew?

    Failed because ford had a cool looking car coming out. All plymouth had was a valiant so they slapped a fast back window on it, called it a barracuda and tried to grab marketshare in the pony car market.

    Yeah, plus you could get a Mustang with a 270hp 289, whereas the Barracuda's most powerful plant in '64 only put out 180hp. More power with a better looking body, no wonder the Mustang sold better.
    But, I still like the Barracuda more, lol.
