Well ladies and gentleman, I am kicking around the idea of building my own trailer. I already have a cargo type trailer so I am looking at building up a expo type trailer. This past weekend I was out tent camping at a 24 hour MTB race and realized I wanted more then a ground tent to go to sleep in. Driving home I drove past an RV dealer that had a whole fleet of teardrop trailers and I loved most of the things I saw in them except the price tag. They wanted $8,000-12,000 for a road only teardrop. I got home and did some quick searches and found off-road ones starting at $16,000 and going up from there. I think if I penny pinch I can possibly build one for about $2000-$2500. Now I know they will not be as nice as some of the AT overland or Moby1 trailers I have been drooling over

    Here are my ideas
2012 Tacoma DCSB as a tow vehicle
    5'x10'
small window ac unit hidden in a tongue box
sleep 2 6' tall adults comfortably for a week
clean water tank and grey water tank

    Details I am 90% on
The frame will be 2x3 rectangle tubing (I already have this in the garage so I will use it)
Springs will be the stock OEM Tacoma springs (laying in garage along with stock shocks)
Wheels and tires will match whats on the truck now (I have the stock wheels in the garage but do not want to run spacers on the trailer wheels, still might go this route to save some coin)
Trailer fenders will be used as steps to access anything on the roof
Coleman camp stove or Camp Chef oven/stove combo

I will use a Brute/Yeti cooler or if I can find a used RV refrigerator
Details I am not sure on
Axle looking at 2500lbs axle but hoping that someone smarter then me can point me in the right direction (mostly width to use)
    LED tail/marker lights
Roof rack that can handle 2 15' sit on top kayaks or a RTT

Off to do some homework and research but feel free to discuss.
