I just bought a 2001 xtended Impulse red one owner with 138000 miles. Nicest Taco I have seen after looking for six weeks. It had a back end collision and the bed was replaced and the entire truck repainted. Because of the repaint the badging is all screwed up and I am unsure what packages it had originally. I was told it was a SR5 PreRunner. The title says it is a PK body style.

    It has:

    Automatic

    PerRunner lift and Flares

    White cluster with Tach

    No Locking differential switch

    No power windows and doors

Can some of you all who know this stuff help me figure this out. Obviously it is not a TRD, no locking differential. I suspect it is a PreRunner no SR5 if that is possible. What do you all think? I want to rebadge it and I want it to be right.

BTW this is my second 1st Gen Tacoma and my 9th Toyota.

As far as i cantell with my sr5, the sr5 package consists of sr5 badges and nothing else. I wouldn't worry aboutthem personally. Mine are coming off this summer.

Not all TRDs had the locker. If it was a 2.7L Auto then it would not have the locker.

Iirc the sr5 had power locks/windows/mirrors and bucket seats. Prerunner just means 2wd with 4wd suspension (which you have)

If I were a betting man I would say you have a base model prerunner

My '99 SR5 TRD Prerunner came with power locks and windows, manual mirrors, 60/40 bench.

My 2000 sr5 has manual locks, manual windows, manual mirrors, a split bench front seat, no cruise control and 2 speed non-intermittent wipers. But it does have sr5 badges  I haven't had such a no-option vehicle since I learned how to drive.

    PK just means "pickup"

I would venture a guess and say someone threw Sr5 badges on your truck. It may be unclear what was included for Sr5 (and probably changed with different years) but it is a convenience package and your truck has no conveniences. haha

SR5 used to mean something. My '84 4runner SR5 had power windows, PB, PS, A/C, tilt steering wheel, altimeter/tiltometer, custom bucket seats, rear seating area heater, tach, carpeting all the way to the tailgate, double-din radio with equalizer, electric radio antenna, etc.

Now, its a base model. Marketing bullsh*t.

It also originally meant "Sport Rally 5-Speed." Lots of SR5s aren't 5-speeds at all, even if you count automatics.
