I installed my CORE/Hurst shifter last night, and it's a huge improvement. It truly makes this little truck drive much better. It's quite tight with VERY little slop, and shifts with easy precision. The reduced throw shortens the time to shift which is a significant benefit. Not much time on it yet but it seems that I can select 1st while in motion easier/smoother/at higher speed, and the shift into 5th doesn't have that dead feel and resistance it did before.

Easy to install and a very complete kit, it included a page of clear and concise directions as well. I marked the forward edge of the stock dust boot with a pencil for reference, and used a rotary file to cut the relief for access to the forward two bolts which was well within dust boot coverage. Regarding the dust boot, I left the bottom rubber in place, cutting the approx 2 5/8" hole as described in the instruction sheet so it fits snugly over the CORE top cover. The grommets supplied for the dust boot and "leather" boot worked perfectly.

All together it's a clean install and I don't have a single complaint.

Yes, I know. My bad... I had everything done and ready to go back together and was going to take some pics before assembly. Then I had a friend come over who was buying a mountain bike from me, I set it all up for him and talked maintenance and adjustments for a bit. When he left I went and put my truck back together without thinking about the pictures, I had only taken one:

You by chance have a part number from Hurst for that shifter?

No, when you go to the Core webpage it just sends you to ebay. Super easy to find when you search eBay, I would give you a link but I'm at work right now and eBay is blocked.

The base is not made by Hurst, but the internal components supposedly are. As I understand it, the Tacoma base (Transmission top cover) is sourced by Core, the internals installed in that and the lever and knob are of course Hurst products.

My wife is driving the truck today and she never likes modifications of any kind, at least initially. Maybe she just hates change, I dunno. On this one however, she says "it's great!" That surprised me! I hope I get my truck back...

The hurst/core shifter is a dream on my 2.7. with about 5000 miles it works flawlessly. i get compliments everytime someone drives the truck
installation was easy and required no trimming as i used a small universal and a socket to get to the tight places. money well spent

Any of you guys know what this is? Happens only when holding a steady speed between 20-30mph. This video is 30mph, sound comes, I let off the gas and the sound dies.

It vibrates, enough to where I can feel it even if my radio is loud enough to "fix" the sound.

I was thinking skid plates for a second but wouldn't it constantly flap? Not just at 20-30mph?
