I believe the cam bolts are larger, same as 2011+ FJ. iirc. Everything else looks the same frame and suspension wise. Interior is much improved.

Exterior will take a bit but everyone will grow to love it.
Right now it's the same as it was in late '04, everyone hated the second gen, give it time and it will fall right into place with the rest of this great lineup.

Not surprised to hear it. We do a ton of work for Solar Turbines and they depend on the oil demand for setting new pumps etc. We're down over 200k a month in their work with the low oil prices. It's a double ended sword for sure.

    too many mods to list
Okay, so after what seemed like an eternity under my truck, I'm finally looking at a computer long enough to get on TW and post something.

    1. Thank you to all the folks who organize this event. I was really amazed at the turn out and how great the meet really was.

    2. Add to the damage list one broken spindle and one blown rear diff. I have to admit this was caused by nothing more than pilot error and nerves of noodles. which really sucks to say.

    3. If it wasn't for the efforts of three very awesome guys my Taco would still be about 1/2 way up the top of the world being given even more dust graffiti (thanks to whoever that was). Specifically Hartford who drove all the way from Maine to spend 48 straight hours awake either driving me to my truck from BFE or driving me to Moab or turning wrenches under my truck...or cracking me up with his stories. Hartford, I cannot thank this man enough. Jason ...who owns a 4Runner and spent most of his time at RT airing up and down and rescuing the broken tacos....this guy cashed in a favor and had a buddy get a new spindle for my truck and then had him drive half way to Moab to deliver it, Jason then drove half way to Salt Lake City and returned to top of the world trail head at 3AM..and showed up with snacks, sandwiches, and caffeine!!....do the math here. From the moment that I broke my spindle to getting a replacement delivered, was about 14 hours...this is an amazing effort for someone he didn't even know. Jason also gave my gal pal Kendra and black lab Swift several rides and deserves a lot of thanks. Shane (Mach375) let me borrow a 35mm socket and breaker bar for the front axle....how else was that going to come off?? ....well the same way you put an elephant in a Safeway bag...you take the 'F' out of 'way'. ...yeah...there is no F'in way.

    4. I have never in my life been on the receiving end of such unmitigated generosity and determination to not leave a truck on a hill in moab. I'm very touched by the efforts of everyone.

    5. As I reflected more on the root cause of my misfortune, I realized that I need to create another post. Like all accidents, this could have been prevented.

    6. The good news is that with everything I break on my truck....I get an upgrade!!! Here comes nitro gears, and spindle gussets!! For the record, I'd never heard of spindle gussets before I broke a spindle.
