Maybe I just suck at searching, but I'm coming up real short on finding intake silencer mods for the 2nd gen 4 banger trucks. Anybody care to share info on theirs?

I want to keep the factory look and don't want to run an intake kit that uses a cone filter. My thought was to just pull the silencer box off, cap it, and put it back on so it still looks original. Yes I just want the sound from the engine.

    Any advice?

Here are the holes that run to the silencer from the intake pipe. These are what I'm talking about blocking off.

This nipple that runs to the fuel pressure regulator would need to be relocated as well.

This guy pulled his resonator on his 4cyl.

I think it's a pretty terrible idea but to each, their truck, their mod... :mudding:

That's a different part. That looks like it keeps water out. This piece sits on top of the engine and muffles the engine sound through the intake.

Google Helmholtz sound suppression many manufactures are using it on intake and exhaust system's.

I'm aware of the technology. I was just trying to imitate the sound of an aftermarket intake, without installing one. Just give it a more throaty sound when accelerating.

I doubt it would have an affect on performance one way or the other.

would be pretty easy to fab up your own intake tube out of some proper sized exhaust pipe. Common mod on the 1st gens.
