Does anyone know the manufacturer of the wheels or recognize the emblem on them?

Well guys and galls..Let's not trash what people buy or why they do. There's generally a reason. I mean it could be discussed why someone would by a TRD package for Bilstein Shocks, skid plates and a sticker on the side and few extra gadgets inside for 4-7k right?? And that would be for the people who MIGHT take the truck OFF ROAD only when they run off the road adjusting the radio. Kinda like the person who would by a a f350 diesel 4x4 dually crew cab and lives in an apartment and drives it to work and back home...each have their own reasons...so lets not trash what someone buys or the state they live in.

Hard to imagine someone buying it for the badges then de-badging it, though.

This is an old ass thread, who cares. The next guy that does my same google search will find it, and that's what counts. I live in Austin Texas. The Tacoma is pretty much the perfect vehicle for this city. You don't have to worry about potholes and shitty roads, you can buy random big shit off craigslist without calling a buddy, you don't have to worry about jerks tailgating you in the mind numbing traffic because they're way back there staring at your tailgate, you can take your dog and kayak wherever, you can easily have sex in the back seat, etc etc. It has the basic modern needs of touch screen/bluetooth/backup camera. It's utilitarian, and I wanted one. The Tundra is just too big to navigate a lot of the places I go, and I don't have a need to haul anything larger than a jet ski trailer. I went to see my buddy at the stealership and fell in love with a low-mileage gunmetal Texas Edition. It had the nice wheel/tire package, black nerf bars were perfect, and the truck felt great to drive. Now it's mine, and it's easily the best vehicle I've ever owned. So there I was, doing some google search on my truck, you know, man shit. This site pops up, I click, and find close minded jackoffs dishing on my state. Nice.

Now what some of you clearly don't understand (or assume, tisk tisk) is I paid the extra for "badges and floormats" or whatever. You are correct, as a Texan, I take pride in my state just as much as the next man. Not gonna lie, it's great seeing my states name on a nice star badge (that matches part of a tattoo) and the floor mats on my truck. Don't have that in your state? Sorry! Look, I know Rick Perry is a joke, and we're sorry he's going to run again, but don't count him against us. We don't claim that guy in Austin. Anyway. Instead of assuming some bullshit, is that the Texas Edition is a reminder for us that Taco was entirely built in San Antonio, TX - an hour away from me. A move by Toyota that brought over 1000 jobs to the city and who knows what positive impact on the local economy. Jobs that several of my friends work to put food on their families plates. Whether you buy a Texas Edition or not, if it was built at some point beyond 2010 it comes from that factory. Is it good marketing on Toyota's part? Of course. But unlike some of you, I live in a state where we take pride and don't blink an eye at an extra $3k to support our local economy (or even *gasp* thank Toyota, who gave me stellar finance terms) and get a nice looking truck with options I like in the process. Sounds like some of your states or inhabitants must suck. But I already knew that, because it's not Texas.

    Namaste

PS - That's not a good way to welcome a newcomer / new Tacoma owner to the site, and there's a lot of us down here.

And on the big ones more chrome like door handles and rims. Never knew Texas meant more shitty chrome. Texas is number one state for truck sales so we get special editions. If special means chrome then count me out.

I like the Texas edition trucks. Of all brands. And it's done at the distributor / port, not dealership. Maybe some manufacturers do it at the factory.

    Enjoy your Texas truck.

Btw- you mention Rick Perry. While I'm not a Texan, and carry no water for Mr Perry. And I'm doubtful he will ever win a nomination to represent his party in a national election. You must recognize that his party and policies are what brings those jobs to the great Lone Star State. Go ahead and turn the place over to the other party...and in a few decades it will look like Baltimore or Detroit.
I promise you this.

    First Welcome to TW!!!

Don't take offense to the prior comments you read, this site is most helpful to learn about your truck. I would say you're new to the site, as your join date shows a few days ago, and you only posted once. But don't let some people's opinions or rants deter you from enjoying this site. Realize this is the internet, and many just type and use no filter. I lived in San Angelo, Tx for 2yrs, and found that little town to be nice, and the folks friendly, the truck sold there commonly was the Texas edition, and always found them nice due to their different wheels/custom Texas badges. If we all drove the same exact truck, that then I'd drive a F-150 or a Silverado, but that would be booooring lol, I like those trucks too actually. I'm not a hater, I just like all kinds of trucks, I just chose the best one that suited me, as you have, now go get it dirty!!

    Enjoy your nice truck!

Spoken like a true TEXAN! LOVE MY TEXAS AND MY TEXAS EDITION TACO! Gabezz is right though, these are largely very fine and helpful people.

Sometimes we all get carried away and get a little overly opinionated I guess.

Welcome To TW, from one TW newbie Texan to another!

I looked at this thread as soon as l read the title.

I was born in Canada. Retired to Costa Rica. But, I've always loved Texas. Beautiful state with fantastic people.

Whenever l saw a Texas Edition truck, I'd always admire the badging and edition specific accessories.

I never care who spends how much on what. It's there business, and l respect that. Just like how much I spend on things that l want; is mine. We buy what makes us happy, and those who don't understand that can go pound sand.

Love the Tacoma OP. Hope you still have it.

Mostly great crowd here, l must say!!
