I am in the process of purchasing a Tacoma, the ones i have looked at in my price range have everything except the one feature i need Back Up Camera.

The one i am looking at now is a 2012 tacoma with a touch screen stereo.

The research i have done from this forum is the following,
    - Moving Stock backup camera from the rear view mirror onto the Factory head unit.
    - Will active when shifting into Reverse (small Delay)
    - Will not have the lines on the screen. (need updated Camera)

    - Adding Aftermarket backup camera to the rear view mirror.
    - Will NOT active when shifting into Reverse
    - Will need cables ran from tailgate to rear mirror

What i need is the following.
    - A camera kit that will have the cable run into the cab of truck.
    - Camera that can activate when in reverse.
    - will have bars on screen.

Ive found the following video but have not heard from user if it will meet my requirements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I already have an aftermarket backup camera installed to work with my old aftermarket HU setup. But recently switch out for a 2015 Entune Plus HU- so now my back up camera not hooked up/working. Seems like all we need is that small harness they are selling in the kit. Kit is over priced at ~$100. I am guessing we can do this all for 40bucks. Anyways, I am no help as I am trying to figure this myself.

I used Camera Source. I required different options for my 2014 Double Cab as the display was already in the radio and the harness already in place. But they had options and setups for every version of the Tacomas.

    Thank You for the reply,

I see so camera-source.com provides kits to add cameras to the Tacoma and to work with factory stereo.

Yes I also got it with the Bolt technology Pop n lock for the tailgate so I could secure it and the cargo when I eventually add a tonneau cover.

I want to be able to go from the Toyota harness to the RCA plugs to add it to my new radio. Haven't figured that one out yet.

I would contact them and see what they can do. I had to wait a couple months when I bought mine in 2014 as Toyota had changed the connectors and it took them a while to source them and build the kits. They may have exactly what you want. most of their stuff is plug and play.
