Anyone worried that the pricing for this new truck will be close to the gmc canyon? I viewed a few canyons at my local dealership, and they are really pricey for decent options. A decently equipped truck without 4wd is around 35K. You could easily get into the full size category for that. I hope the 2016 Tacoma doesn't get more expensive, because the 2015 was already high for what you get in my opinion.

More than likely they'll be comparable in price.. but who knows. Somewhat infrequent for new and improved vehicles come in at comparable prices than the vehicles they're replacing.

I would expect at least or greater pricing from the 3rd gen.

My guess is you can expect a bump in price.

The Chevy's I was looking at at the lot were way over priced. I looked at the price and asked if it was 4 wheel drive. Ummm, nooo

I hope they are only a thousand or two more than the 2gen

I expect a price bump of $916 on the base price across the board :)

but in reality it probably be closer to 100-250 or tops $500 over 2015 base pricing for all models.

I don't think you are going to see anything huge - the feature content they have added is not really expensive tech. I would not expect anything more than a $1K increase.

I've never understood the comparison to full size. Does it have fewer seats? Fewer door handles? Fewer tires? Go buy a few hundred pounds of scrap plastic and metal and the price you pay should be the price difference. The cost of production is in engineering, manufacturing the molds, the specialized equipment, the labor, etc, not the raw materials. A midsize truck isn't less complex.

Price jump in 2005 from the 1st to 2nd gen was $500-2000, I would expect the same, I bet a loaded limited will retail at $39-40k similar to loaded GM twins and people will pay it, sure its close to full size but a lower optioned full size and there is a strong demand for mid-sized trucks.
