I went with the snow tire route. Purchased OEM steel wheels of Craigslist for $50, 265/70R16 General Altimax Arctic snow tires for well under $100 each at Sears, and had them mounted and balanced without the TPMS sensors for around $500 total.

I chose the 265/70R16 size so that my speedometer would not be off.

I don't know what the Dunflops really are good for. Changed mine out at 6500 miles with a lift and sold them for $300.

I'd like to put X-Ice XI2 s on 4wd DCSB but they don't come in a 245/75R16. Can I put the 265/70R 16s on those rims without voiding warranty?

One can never have too many light bars.
Yes. And you can choose any tire size you want and as long as you can prove the mod wasn't the cause of the failure it will not void the warranty.

I'm on my 3rd set of Dunlop's. I've gotten 65,000 miles of even wear from the first two sets (rotated religiously every 5k). For $96 each, they're not bad.
As far snow goes, I've never had an issue. I live in Massachusetts, so my truck has seen more than it's share of snow.
I'm sure there are much better tires out there, but they're not that bad for the price.

For sure, 265/70/16 is a factory tire size.

The Dunflops are the worst tires I have ever driven on. Hands down.

I recently got to drive on snow/ice twice this winter season so far with my Michelin M/S 2's. By far a better experience than I had with my Dunflops AT2's. I drove those on "snow" once and instantly decided they had to go. No rear traction at all. And that was a light dusting and not a real snow. No ice on the roads.

glad to see you like them in the snow, i just got the ltx defenders which are basically the same with better compound.

I had zero issues with them last winter including driving through nearly bumper deep snow in a muddy field with 35 PSI.

I do experience the crappy sidewall flex while navigating sharp corners. They definitely will be replaced with something better when they wear out but for now they work just fine.

Think I heard something about the new compound being better in snow which suggests a softer rubber. Also indicated a lower tread life (60k instead of 70k) which would concur with that.

the tire is 70000, and when i wrote michelin they did say the defender was designed to be better in colder environments

Original dunlops for 37K miles terrible in the wet, noisy/squeal when dry. Replaced with Michelin LTX MS2's. Excellent in wet conditions - don't have snow/ice to amount to much around here.

I guess you expect more from your tires than I do.. I've driven a total of 140k miles on the dunlops AT20, 95% highway miles.
Like i said, even wear, good longevity, decent in the snow *4wd.
I'm a cheap bastard, so the price suites me well.

Yours don't squeal every time you go around a sharp corner?

    Yours dont dry-rot after 3 years / 30,000miles?

    Yours get traction?

    They are truly terrible tires.

No squeeling at all, ever. I haven't had any noticeable dry rot either. I drive about 17k a year, so they last me just under 4 years,
In 4WD, I've gone through some incredible snow storms here with no issues and never even came close to getting stuck.

Maryland and snow is not a big deal comparably. You should be fine going on line and getting an AT tire rated well in snow on the Tire Rack web site. If I lived in Maryland I would not get winter tires and change them over. Heck, I wouldn't do it in southern NE.
I live in Maine, that's a different story. You don't need thewhere you are. BFG all terrains and the like should fill the bill. Firestone AT s are a little more on road worthy but acceptable in snow. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much with most mud snow rated AT tires with decent reviews. Don't over think it and buy by price after you check the ratings.

Took them off mine at 500 miles and sold them on craigslist for $350. Put on Michelin LTX MS2s. Great AT tire. Wear like iron and are perfect for the conditions I encounter.

Installed Cooper At/3's (265/70R16) and ProComp 7089 Rims. Tinted front windows. Did the Fog Light Anytime mod. Did the tailgate mod. Added running boards. Adding sound Deadening from RAAMaudio. Replacing stock speakers with Polk Audio DB6501's.
Took mine off with less than 600 miles (had some snow and the truck wouldn't come up the hill even in 4 wheel drive), and put on Cooper AT/3's. Sold the tires and stock rims to a local guy. Since then it hasn't snowed again. Tires did squeal. Also put X-Ice 2's on the Venza.

140,000 miles on ANY set of tires seems unbelievable...
