I've tried and googled but can't find my situation specifically. A while ago I gutted my cat (stupid I know) and after a while the code popped up. Didn't really bother to fix it because I didn't think much of it. Well now it's a year later and probably time to do something with it after learning it could affect your mpg and such. Will a new cat fix the problem? Or a new sensor and new cat? Or just a new sensor? Idk please help!

No mine doesn't smell different or smoke. I should add mines a v6. Can't really tell any different performance wise since the light came on but I'm probably not the person to ask.

Somewhere on this wonderful forum lots of us call home, there is a mod you can do to turn of the cel for your cat. Its some type of resistor deal. Guys who have "removed" there cats do it... Im sure some one will post a link.

Yeah I know what you're talking about. Thanks for reminding me I've forgot about that. Might as well try that it can't hurt anything.

It's called an o2 simulator. They do the job well. Sometimes though they don't let the readiness monitors clear in your computer to pass emissions. But it's probably worth a try.

I need to replace 1 of the cats in my truck as I get a p0420 code every so often, but I'm cheap so I just clear the code and keep going. I was quoted $200 a side for new cats, so if the simulator is more than that, you should probably just get a new cat......

I got a 40 series on her now! Might end up just throwing a high flow flowmaster on there too

Yeah I couldn't notice a thing different when I gutted the cat. But then again I've had so many different exhaust setups so far I can't remember haha
