So, I finally manned up and got a 4x4. I went all-out and made sure it had the TRD & SR5 packages with a factory e-locker and supercharger. It's got 155,000 miles on it, a clean report, and it's stayed in the South (no worries about frame rust). I'm the third owner and I love it. I hated to get rid of my PreRunner because I had so much done to it, but it's always good to start fresh. Here she is:

First priority is servicing everything. I've already changed the oil, transmission fluid and cleaned and oiled the air filter. Next on the list is to change the supercharger oil & nose drive, engine coolant, spark plugs, differential fluids, transfer case fluid, and fuel filter. The timing belt was changed at 140,000, so it should be good for a while. While knocking all that crap out, I'm going to hopefully be modding it out as well! I plan on ordering an All-Pro Apex bumper this weekend (provided All-Pro does some sort of 4th of July deal). I'm also planning on getting an All-Pro rear bumper, Homertaco Satoshi grill, OME lift, and doing the grey wire and diff breather mods.

I've got a few questions, though:

    1. As you can see in one of the pics above, it seems like there is a spacer lift on the front. I'm assuming that it's just the stock TRD coilover with a rubber bushing on top, right? My old truck had Bilstein 5100's and Eibach springs, but it rode stiff, so I didn't bother taking them off. Is there anything bad about a spcer lift (I know it's not as good as the OME or Billy setup), but can anything bad come from it, aside from the bushing wearing down over time? It rides very smooth.

    2. In the rear, there are aluminum blocks and drop shackles, which I know aren't as good as AAL's or a new coil pack. I plan on switching to an AAL when I get OME's in the front. I understand how both drop shackles and blocks work, but why would this have both? The truck is level, but I figured with both blocks and the drop shackle, it'd be higher in the rear. Also, are those the stock rear shocks? My PreRunner had black Bilstein's.

    3. I plan on getting the OME lift this time because I had the Bilstein lift on my PreRunner and it was stiff as hell. I had a Trail Gear bumper and the lift was on there for a few years, but the springs were just too damn stiff and never settled. I'm gonna go with the OME lift this time. Should I go with the 881 or the 883, since I'll have the All-Pro APEX bumper on there?

Thanks, after looking through Toyotec's site, it said NOT to use the Bilstein/Eibach setup with standard cabs or 2.7 liters, as the ride will be rough. My PreRunner was a standard cab 2.7 liter :anonymous: Looks like I'll be going back to the Bilstein/Eibach combo again since it's cheaper and probably effective, since I'll be putting it on an Extracab 3.4 liter

I wish I could take my existing one off my PreRunner and swap out the spacer lift on my new one, but I'm selling it tomorrow and won't have time

Just need more weight up front, mine road a little rough. Took the sway off, rode a bit better. But the spring rate is 650#, so with the light weight of the standard cab, TG bumper and 2.7 had to ride rough. I plan on getting a plate bumper towards the end of the year and it should make the ride better.

Yeah, I'm thinking with my 3.4 liter, plus the weight of the extracab, transfer case, front differential, and 120 lb All-Pro bumper, it should be a much better ride. If I remember correctly, I can get the whole shock and spring out by just removing like 4-5 bolts, right? If so, I can do it this afternoon after work. I remember the rear taking a little longer, so I might just leave the blocks and shackle in the rear for now.

Yeah, take the top 3 bolts off and then the one bottom one and it'll come out. May need to pry the LCA down to get it all the way out.

(BTW this should be your build page ;) )

Might as well make it a build page. I'll post pics of the suspension swap if I do it tonight.

Okay @BabyTaco, I just ordered some shit today to start modding my truck:

    - new driver's side window motor
    - new driver's side mirror glass
    - supercharger oil change kit
    - all parts for differential breather mod
    - 2 rear axle seals
    - new back brake shoes

I know most of these aren't mods, but as soon as I get all this done, I can start buying shit I don't actually need.
