3 different trees have decided they needed my antenna

 

My carport ate mine.

I always worried about someone running off with mine. But now I just worry about it slowly coming unscrewed from the mount.

 

There was a spring. Here's how it happened:
>backing into carport
>hear thud...thud
>wtf
>realize oh fuck, it's my antenna hitting the beams
>decide to pull forward and take the antenna off before attempting reverse maneuver
>pull forward, the antenna catches in the beam
>I get out of the truck and see about 10" of antenna sticking from the beam
>MFW

if you don't want to have to store it after disconnecting, you can get one of these. it's just a spring loaded collar, so no tools, and it folds right down. I really like mine. Nathan has a threaded version that to my knowledge, he likes.

That sucks. Thankfully mine hasn't walked away yet.

I haven't lost an antenna to trees or a carport, but my carport did eat my Plano Rifle case. That made a pretty decent pop when it shattered into pieces.

 

I was going to get one of those. But it's an extra part, and I'm lazy.

With a 2', you do not need to disconnect it. It's a tad lower than the stock radio antenna.

On trails, I'll swap to the 4'.

 

I'm trying to find the site where I bought my mount from. It's pretty awesome.

 

too lazy to twist disconnect antenna. not too lazy to get out tools and swap out antenna and retune radio.
