Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to do my dealing online and it's like pulling teeth to get these jokers to even respond. The one I did balked at the price I presented from RH saying there must be hidden costs they tell you about after, blah blah blah. I pointed out the MSRPs for both his and their vehicles are almost identical....crickets. Its like they don't want to sell trucks.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.

Oh yea. Hidden costs for what? Its not rocket science. MSRP, tax and title. Nothing hidden there.

Then you have warranty, gap, service contract etc but those are all fully optional

When it comes down to it everything will be laid out for someone to look at before signing.

Dealers love excuses.. Its a business and they want their bang for their buck!

Large dealers will be able to swing a better deal. There is nothing wrong with spending a little more to go with a smaller dealer if they provide a better service, or are a local family etc. But they all have an invoice, the owe toyota a certain dollar amount for the truck. MSRP is the starting point for them to negotiate and make a profit. Of course if they have a large volume selling more means they can turn a smaller profit in each vehicle and come out ahead.

Regional costs vary, invoice price varies and of course the MSRP varies to keep thier profit margins. But any dealer that wants business will make every effort to come as close as they can, of course they want a profit and the same way you want the best (cheapest) deal they want the best for them (most expensive) there has to be a happy medium. That is where doing your homework and knowing your own expectations sets you up to know if the dealer is doing what they should.

    And no problem!

Just picked up a 2015 DCSB TRD Off Road 4x4 6MT for $30,300 in Santa Rosa, CA. 90 mile drive home to San Jose was fun :)

Don't know why the dealers in my area wanted 3-4k more for the same truck.

Some of the dealers your talking to may have a shitty Internet manager, but the price at at link listed above is about true dealer cost. Most dealers are going to want to turn some profit, especially on a Tacoma that only sits on the lot for a week or so.

I called dealers in a 100 mile radius of my area asking for the best price on the exact truck I wanted, then took it into my local dealer and they matched the price. Its a strategy you could try.

Why do people continue to post out the door prices? Taxes and such vary from state to state so out the door does no one any good.

When buying the truck I was only dealing in out the door prices, easier for my small brain to comprehend, so it carried over here.

My truck cost was probably around 29900, MSRP 34560, don't know for sure, don't have the papers in front of me

I have bought a lot of vehicles and have yet to see a contract that did not start with the actual sales price of the new vehicle. OTD prices do not help anybody when they go to buy theirs. MSRP and sales price of the vehicle before trade, taxes, title, registration etc. is useful to others anything else is not.

happens all the time in these price threads you are not the only one. People get carried away with OTD prices because they think they got this great deal. In reality maybe they did and maybe they did not.

You can actually use the T/T/F to further negotiate. I saved 300 bucks by telling the Koons in Virginia I was willing to deal with the Koons in Md who's processing fee was $300 cheaper. They came down pretty quickly.
