Auto vs manual j-shift tcase

Does anyone know if the auto and manual tcase is the same ? The lever comes up in a diff spot on the auto so I'm not sure.

 

I don't see why it would be different unless it's on a truck like mine that has the gay ass button on the side. I would much rather have the j-shift setup. That way there aren't any electronics controlling my 4WD system.

 

I already have a j-shift...but don't the manual trucks get speed from the tcase

 

4wd trucks get the speed from the tcase, doesn't matter which style tcase.

It's must be from a 98 or newer truck if it doesn't have a cable

 

So I have to get a tcase from a 95-98 ?

 

95-97 used mechanical speedometer setup. 98 and up is digital.

If you want your speedometer to work you're going to have to replace it with the same style transfer case or swap in a new cluster and the appropriate writing for the electronic speedometer.
