@chadstacoma Did you ever find out anything about installing this lift under warranty?

Basically my dealer said any parts I replace and any related to those parts will not be covered:

"Once you replace the items you noted, any other parts related to the components replaced are no longer under warranty. I am sure you know this but the differential must be dropped to insure proper drive line angle. Hope I answered you question sufficiently.

Engine components will be still be under warranty as long as none of those components have been altered."

Anyone else have this issue with their dealer? What'd ya do just say f it?

Copy of Magnuson-Moss warranty act pertaining to that.

Will using 'aftermarket' or recycled parts void my warranty?
No. An 'aftermarket' part is a part made by a company other than the vehicle manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer. A 'recycled' part is a part that was made for and installed in a new vehicle by the manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer, and later removed from the vehicle and made available for resale or reuse. Simply using an aftermarket or recycled part does not void your warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or recycled part. The manufacturer or dealer can, however, require consumers to use select parts if those parts are provided to consumers free of charge under the warranty.

Still, if it turns out that the aftermarket or recycled part was itself defective or wasn't installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs. The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage.

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0138-auto-warranties-routine-maintenance

They have to prove that part caused the need for the repair.

They can still say no, but legally they have to prove it. Basically, you'll battle for warranty coverage. But it's their battle to lose and they have the most leg work to do.

I have a question for all you weekend warriors. I installed a spacer kit from Supreme Suspensions, 3" up front, 2" in back, dropped the transfer case about an inch and small spacers under the rear of the stock belly pan. The truck rides just like stock and I have no intention of going off road. I just preferred the look of a small lift. I will keep my stock tire size (17") but probably buy some trick wheels at some point. Why are you all suggesting that I won't be happy with the spacer lift?

The spacer lifts ride rougher than a coilover and you lose some suspension travel with them. I'm sure you will be fine with yours if you are not offroading. There are plenty of them on the road and some of the folks around here get their tighty whities bunched up when they hear someone bought a spacer lift. A friend of mine owns a offroad shop and he installs more spacer lifts than anything else. IF you like the way it rides then that's all that matters. No need in you spending thousands of dollars for a high performance lift you'll never need. :D

Murph, I really appreciate your message. I am new to owning a Tacoma and totally love this truck. It's my daily driver and rarely ever leaves the black top so I was hoping for a little support for my spacer lift. I was aware that the spacer lift would sacrifice some suspension travel but I can't honestly feel any difference in the ride over the stock setup.

If you don't go off the pavement, you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I'll just put one on and IF something decides to give, well that's when I'll worry about it.

Youll be fine. Even tho the majority of TW think that the minimal is 5100s. Youll hear plenty of trash talk about spacer lift. In reality. Its the most popular lift due to the price and not many people have problems. There will be a few who will have some kind of problems but that goes for every single lift out there. You see more on spacer because its what the majority run.

I installed a $200 ebay 3" front and 2" rear spacer/block lift about a week after I brought my taco. Had it on her for over a year. Houston TX potholes and shitty road does nothing to her. Ride quality is rougher but I brought a truck so I expected that. I sometimes do trails and flex but nothing major. Dont jump over speed bump like its not there and your good to go.

Had a tuff country leveling kit installed. 2" spacer front and 1" block rear. Looked good and fit the budget. Ride quality initially was good. As time progressed the ride quality degraded some. Specifically, small bumps became more evident. I upgraded to the Icon stage 3 (although out of budget) and couldn't be happier. Like anything else, it's maintenance. I need to get underneath and squirt a little lube here and there.

If I remember correctly, 3" is the max before having to change UCA.
