So I have a Extang solid fold and want to adapt a plastic 3 rod holder to the rail system in the truck bed. I was looking for a way the make a quick disconnect of some sort that could be attached to the rails so when I'm out fishing I could remove the rod holder and close the cover. I stumbled upon (this) nifty little thing in tnutz.com, can anyone tell me if it could work??? If not, can someone help a brother out??? Thanks in advanced!!!

Checkout my build for another variation of rod holders in the bed. Easy to install and remove. I'm always saltwater fishing so my rods tend to be larger. Also currently have had a Solid Fold.

I like that too and plan to eventually do something similar for my really big salmon plunking and sturgeon rods. I already have nice aluminum "mortar tubes" and two plastic ones that look like yours that came out of my boat. Will probably mount them somehow using the front rail and a tube assembly. Sort of like how they are traditionaly mounted on a radar arch but low over the top of my coolers and gear.
