WIll a 4x2 hitch fit a 4x4 with ext or double cab or single cab? I would think they are all the same.

Good question. I would think it would be more model year than wheelbase so wait and see.

I don't know, but I can take a photo of how my OEM hitch mounts to the frame on my 4x4 DCLB if it helps any.

pretty sure any 6 lugger OEM hitch should bolt up to any 6 lug frame. The differences in wheelbase is done in the center section forward of the front leaf spring hangers.

That doesn't look like an OEM hitch to me. This is the factory hitch which came with my 05 DCLB 4.0. The ends are completely open and have 5 bolts on the flange. Also there's a separate angle bracket (first photo) Not sure if you were thinking that's an OEM part on eBay. Plus the light trailer light hookup cap doesn't look OEM.

Not all 2.7L are 5 lug. They made regular cab and access cab in 6 lug with 4wd and also prerunners in access cab and double cab that were 6 lug. Also, hitch was not a standard option on 2.7L, although you could pay an absurd amount of money for one from dealer. You're better off buying a Reese or Hidden Hitch new. I paid $120 brand new for a Reese Class III from Pepboys on sale.

yeah like stated, the I4 6 luggers never had the option for the class IV hitch from the factory (for obvious reasons) The ball on the bumper would suffice just fine for the tow rating of the I4 6 luggers.

The truck pictured in the eBay listing is indeed a 4x4. Regular cabs came only with the 2.7L. The hitch will fit your truck. Looks like you will have to furnish your own wiring, however.

Further research shows the hitch to be part of a Toyota accessory kit, P/N PT791-04050. However, it's missing the large frame-attachment flanges. Here's what a full kit looks like (dealer listing): http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-TOYOTA-TACOMA-CLASS-III-TOW-HITCH-RECIVER-/251550491751

I recommend messaging eBay seller easternautosalvage and ask if they can pull the frame flanges from the wrecked truck. Worth a shot since $50 is a pretty good discount compared to almost $300 for a new kit.

I just went with a Curt mfg hitch for my 2015 that didn't come with one. It was under $200 with a harness on eBay. The dealer wanted a lot for a factory one.
