Anyone have a picture of it relocated to the drivers side license plate light location?

It is literally like its meant for it.

And if you are good with the hacksaw only cut what you need off (very minimal), leave the top lip on the backside of the plug and you will be able to use it to hold the top of the plug in place on the bumper. Only other thing you have to do is flip the 90* plastic wire guide 90*... which is as simple as removing the electrical tape around the junction between it and the main body of the plug, and spinning the plastic bend.

You will understand this when you remove the harness from the truck itself.

The reason I drilled a hole was I didn't want to sacrifice one of the two license plate lights. Two is better than one, I don't care about illumination for readability, only legally. If one bulb let's up, the other keeps me legal until I can replace. But I tend to agree with the Lord of War, that you only need one to be legal, presumably in all 50 states.

I need to paint these washers black, but I'm happy with it.

You dont need any extra grounds for the stock plug it already has a ground running to it via the factory harness.

That stated if you need a good ground at the back of the truck there is a ground bolt on the top of the frame on the driver side. Stand at the driver side rear tire, look at the top center of the tire, and follow that to the top of the frame and you will see the ground im talking about, plenty of clearance as well between the bed to get a wrench on it to undo it.

CLEAAAAN! it was pretty easy wasnt it?

Took like 10 minutes total. I think I spend more time at the hardware store getting the bolts and nuts.

It's also one of those things that if you aren't hooning around or generally being a dick, they'll likely just say "Hey, you need a light there." Although with the factory trailer harness there, it really looks stock, so I doubt they'd even notice.

Some very nice work here you guys. I need some help....
I have a 2010 TRD OR TACO with the factory tow pkg. On my way to moving the 7 pin to driver's side lic plate light hole, Everthing is now disassembled except the 7 pin oem blade receptacle at the end of the wiring harness. How do you disassemble the receptacle. I've looked at this for30 minutes, and turned, pulled, & twisted. No movement. ARRRGH !!!!

I thought I was the only person that had done this. IIRC I had to open up the hole a smidge with my plasma cutter, the 7/4 plug is a little funky shaped but I like the convenience of not needing an adapter.

License plate lights are a joke anyway. The one I have left I believe has been burnt out for over a year now. I worked the streets for a decade, if I'm behind you by golly my headlights work just fine and lit up or not I have to be pretty close to actually read your plate at night.

I actually got pulled over this last halloween for exactly that by a guy I didn't know, I've been out for several years now. Halloween, night. There are sooooo many more things you should be doing than BS traffic stops.

"Slow night tonight? Because I know it's not..." Rookies  Yes it's a legit stop but you shouldn't be doing that right now. Who was your FTO?

And I have 0 idea where my front plate is, I'm waiting to get pulled over for that one. It's only a matter of time.

Crom - did you drill the hole where the bumper is curved? If so, how did you get the bracket to sit flat? Did you seal it? Thanks. Great mod!!

Crom placed his in a new hole in the bumper, which is why I'm guessing he needed a gasket. Mine is also in the driver's side license plate light hole, and I only trimmed some plastic on the plug and drilled two holes for the bolts. No gasket needed.

Surface is not flush, so you need to compensate for that, add long as you're good with that, it's great. It'll be 7 year old mod soon, and I'd do it again tomorrow the same way if I had to.

Toyota should have moved the damned thing into the bumper. The fact that we have to even do this is ridiculous. :D
