I'm gonna vote 'not an asshole'. I park like that all the time to get me as far away from a potential door dinger as possible. It's not like he's talking taking up two spots.

Can't assume because the parking lot was empty when you got there, that it doesn't fill up. IMO, yes it is still an asshole thing to do no matter how far or empty the lot is.

I see visitors at my work park in 2 spots all the time. When they arrive, many times it is before the majority of people have gotten to work. I'm pretty sure their logic is, 'hey look how empty this lot it, surely is ok to park in multiple spots.'

Why is this frowned upon. I ride and there are tons of parking lots that don't have designated parking spots for bikes. Do you think that they/we are lesser citizens and don't deserve to have our own parking spot? Just because our ride is smaller than yours doesn't mean that we don't need somewhere to park. I do try to find a spot with another bike already in it to alleviate taking up more spots but if not, guess what? I'm parking in a spot, one that I have just as much right to park in as anyone else.

I also disagree. If there is no spots for motorcycles then we have to park in a car spot or on a sidewalk. And I know how much people love it when I park on the sidewalk.

    X2.

That's not what I took from it the first time I looked at it though. I think it was more so in the case where you start pulling in because you think the spot is empty but then see a bike and have to reverse out to find another spot. It happens to me weekly..
