I drove around a little bit and the idle is much more steady. I'd have to reallllly be trying to feel for any roughness to notice anything (sitting still, not breathing, etc lol)

the holes are easy to clean, use a toothpick and just push it up and down in each hole and its clean as a whistle (how do people know whistles are clean?) anyway lol, if you need a little extra help to clean it, spray or dip the toothpick in carb cleaner.

as for the gasket, its nothing really, so any thin gasket material you buy or a tube of gasket maker by itself works just fine, no need for sourcing an oem gasket.

I too have the slightly rough idle on cold starts sometimes and I cant figure it out either. im tempted to bring it to the dealer to let then tell me what it is but im afraid they will just give me a big bill and not solve the problem. many times I think I know more then the mechanics at these dealerships when it comes to trouble shooting stuff, its like if the book doesnt say exactly whats wrong with it when it has symptoms x, y, and z, they just start changing parts until its fixed or you run out of money.

I think i'll change my front o2 sensor just because it almost has 120k miles on it and see if that solves it, either way I think it needs replacing just from age and mileage.

I have 231,000 miles on my 04 Tacoma 3.4 V6 and heard one of you mention something about not using a K&N. I imagine it's because the oil you spray on the filter makes the throttle body sticky and then gunk sticks to it. Isn't the oil on the front of the filter so it should stay on the front if the filter is doing it's job. I have never cleaned my throttle body and my idle is perfect. Just wondering since I have the Deck plate mod. with a K&N filter. However I replaced my MAF due to a broken element but that has nothing to do with this question.

If you over oil the filter the oil will build up wherever it lands. My truck was running fine, minus a slight rough idle, in gear and at a stop. But i decided to take the rb off for a cleaning, and it was pretty gunked up. My uncles, which i did last weekend was NASTY! Shoulda taken picks... After seeing that, ive sworn off k&n. About all they are good for is reusable. They dont gain any noticeable power. But to each their own
