Help Leveling my TRD Offroad Prerunner

    Alright, thanks for helping me out. The front I suppose would normally set at 34 1/2 without the spacer and the rear would be around 36~36.25 probably. So if the .85 option lifted around 1.5 inches then the truck would ideally set perfectly level.

    He got that 1.5 inches of lift on brand new coils though, with a 100,000 miles on your coils you might not get that. I got right at 1.75 with my bilsteins set at 1.75, but I'm assuming you'd get something close to 1 inch with them set at .85. Seems like going with .85 would be your best bet

    And you may want to go back and do hub to fender instead of ground to fender.

    From the fender to the center hub on the front, I got 23 inches. The rear is around 22 inches.

    I wouldn't expect to gain anymore than .85, and that's what I'd recommend going with. The idea of level is whatever someone likes, but with high mileage rear leaf packs I would just as soon assume that they're not as stiff as they once were and will not handle loads as well. The last thing you want to do is over compensate for lift up front just to run down the road looking like a puppy dragging its ass on the carpet.

    I think that's what I'm going to set it as. I mean if it does sit high I can always lower it, but I'd prefer not to. And to be honest, it can't be any worse than this:

    Oh and I forgot to ask: Once I install the bilsteins will I need to get my headlights adjusted? The spacer has them looking at the sky lol.

    Ride at .85 for me was a minimal difference in quality. 1.75 is noticeably stiffer, FWIW, but not bad riding. 2.5 likely rides like shit but I've never tried.

    I plan on dropping to 0 setting and trying coils instead, because I find the road manners not the greatest and many times have read the same issues with others at 1.75 and they went away by reducing preload and getting lift coils.

    Might not. But it's a good idea to have them set to proper heights afterward IMO.

    I went from 1.75 to dropping them to 0 and getting one 884s and I'm a lot happier with the ride. (Well I was until I put load range E 285s on it)

    I'm satisfied with the factory ride height. I just wanted to lift the front end to make it level with the rear. Considering I don't offroad in extreme conditions, I don't need the truck to sit up high. The other reason I don't want to lift the entire truck is because I don't want to increase axle wrap along with the driveline vibrations. Not to mention, for a good setup it would cost more money. I belive the .85 option will serve my needs. I just wished I hadn't of bought a spacer -__-

    I got about 2.3 inches of lift. That was about 2 months after I installed them. Im thinking about going to 885s though.

    Okay I think I've determined that the .85 option is going to be the safest bet. I just have two questions: How was highway driving with the shock set at .85? Also would the difference between the shock set at 0 and .85 even be noticeable? I just don't want to feel like I'm driving with wooden wheels.

    Bilsteins 5100 set at .085 Rear custom 1" add a leaf 265/70 R17 tires. Custom made aluminum tonneau cover with bike rack. 4x4 conversion with 4Runner transfer case.
    After Bilsteins installed set at 0.85 I'm getting:

    FL before 20" , after 21.25"
    FR before 20.5" after 21.75"

    A total increase of 1.25" each side.

    Prior I had lifted rear 1". Always is better take measures front wheel center, so you can compare with others using different tire size.

    Before lift, rear height were 20 3/4 left, 21 1/2 right and after lift 22 1/4 left and 22 1/2 right almost perfect.

    Next week, Bilsteins will be arriving, then I will install them with stock springs at 0.85". I think a lot about changing springs with OMES, but I'will give old springs a try to see how will be the new suspension arrangement feeling.

    I think you have chosen wisely with the .85 setting. Just a reminder, that's the second setting. Your leafs are probably fairly saggy and it's quite likely that the 1.75 setting would have you slightly nose high.

    Enjoy your new look and hopefully improved ride. You might also consider a spacer on the drivers side to combat the Taco lean while they're doing the install.
