It's my dd but the boss doesn't mind me driving the work truck home. I actually didn't order it, my buddy decided to go ahead and order one on his account for me. It will be here in the morning.

While I appreciate @dakotasyota 's offer, getting to and from eburg would be difficult.

At that point I'd just save up the extra $$ and go long travel

Btw, might be picking up a tube bender in the next few weeks, you're invited to come up to the shop and see if we can make some metal stick together in the form of some sliders

That's where I was at. I was like, well I need to rebuild my UCAs and tie rods, but obviously I want to upgrade my UCAs so this doesn't happen again, then well if I'm upgrading my UCAs to something nice I might as well get a cool extended travel coilover to go with it.... Well I also did just see two people destroy their stock LCAs... I should upgrade that too... Ah screw it just go LT!

If I hadn't just spent almost $700 on new UCA's I'd probably be considering LT.

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat. Also I was considering the effect (if any) on towing.

Chickenmunga Mike - if you could do it all over again, would you go LT?

Interesting, I lost my subscription to this thread...

No, because the cost is still greater than where I'm at now. A solid mid travel setup I think is the best option for the PNW, unless you are username.
If I could do things over, I would start out with the Kings + AP rear, do a better UCA, and probably not have messed with the bushings and ball joints.
I'd also have just bought a Pelfrey rear bumper. Talon did a great job for me and saved me some cash, but ultimately I still have some work to do on it that I'm not sure how to quite do.

Actually, the best setup is a commuter + an offroader you don't care about, but it all comes down to space, right?

Why AP leafs? Just curious why not Dakars. Heard a lot of people say the AP leafs go flat pretty quick

I've been going back and forth about selling my brand new APoo Expos. All this 'flat' talk has me second guessing the build. I'm here for feedback:popcorn:

Has anyone installed a IBS battery monitoring system before? I am considering doing what another TW member did (1st picture) but I would like to use the IBS monitoring system along with the isolator/kill switches (2nd picture).

I agree, I would love to have that in my truck but I don't know how to install it. I just installed some area lights and would like to wire them to a system like this but I will need to wait for that... maybe I will just have "just for show" lights until that happens.

I bought these and disassembled them all. I had a local glass maker cut my some real glass to replace the acrylic crap they had in there. Reinstall was a bit of a bitch since they stretched a silicone seal in place. Once I removed the acrylic the silicone wouldn't make a real seal. I mounted them along side my light bar on my basket; two on each side.

I talked to another guy who had the Dakars, and they weren't holding enough weight for his setup. His setup was dead nuts identical to me and he was transitioning to the AP Expos, so I followed his research and went AP expos as well.
I haven't heard anything about the AP Expos going flat. Looking through posts, it seems that there's a lot of controversy no matter what spring setup, which I think is attributed to people wanting "one size fits all" answers and abusing products through incorrect setup and usage.
Thinking a bit more today on things, I suppose I could change my mind and say that a custom-tailored pack from Oregon Spring/Tacoma Spring would be the way to go, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell them exactly what I would want.
Another thing I think I should have sprung for is the rear clickers for the shocks. Unweighted, my compression is a bit high making the back end a bit hoppy.

AS for batteries, I went for a simpler approach and got the mondo-sized DieHard battery. I didn't bother with the prettyboy battery tray upgrades; I have a friend who kept with stock battery tray. It did fine for him, and he gets on the trails far more than me.

Speaking of suspension, I tried tuning the Yamaha this past weekend and realized I am incapable of setting the clickers correctly. :(
I can't decipher what the rear is doing well enough.
When it comes to the front, they talk about 'going over bumps big enough to bottom out the suspension', and I am not ready to be mashing around that hard and survive.

Thought I hjad to man up and dig into doing it, but I'm back to justifying a trip to Konflict. I definitely don't ride hard enough to get the full enjoyment, but at my current weight and aptitude, I'm more likely to have the bike not keep up due to me being stupid.

Did he have the AAL in the Dakar set? Ive never heard of someone needing more weight carrying capacity if they have the AAL in the pack. With all my weight I only drop down a half inch full loaded (rear HC bumper, full size spare, tent, camping gear, Jerry can etc..)

I did some searching through my old conversations (man, that's so much harder now) and found that the guy I referenced was actually on Deavers, so I apologize for that.
At the time of my reading, the information I had said that the Dakars (yes I got it right this time) were more geared towards a standard weight vehicle, not so much all the setup I currently have. I was getting very frustrated by the back-and-forth, so I made a decision based on what people were commenting on, and that BajaRunner was set identical to me.
Also, unless things have changed, Tyler Pelfrey was running AP Expos as well, so I thought I couldn't do too bad.

From my searching today, I've seen plenty of negatively arched springs and flat springs for every manufacturer. The only guy who I found that did a side by side comparison said that the Dakars were initially quite flat, but offered more droop, whereas the AP were more suited for heavy loads. It seems that the most overlooked factor was people not having proper bumpstops (which I need to correct as well!!)

My Dakars didnt sag to much with the canopy and probably ~300 pounds of "stuff" when i traveled to san diego.

however when i tossed in the pelfrey front bumper, winch, full skids, all my stuff, plus some other stuff it did sink a decent 1.5-2" (or so it seemed i didnt measure)

With that said if you are going to have under ~300 pounds it probably doesnt really matter what you go with. 300-~600 Dakars and im sure the ap expo's should be fine. Start carring over ~600 and id be looking at a custom leaf pack
