Are you generally happy with it? I'm not much of an audiophile so I'm sure sound quality is more than good enough for me, but I'm interested in how you like the UI. Is the touch screen easy to navigate and responsive? How does the Navigation compare to other things you've used (I use my android phone now and I have an OLD tomtom, not sure if you've used similar)?

The headunit pushes HD audio, I can tell it's much better, but won't be the best until I get some better speakers, but it is much better already. The touch screen is one of the most responsive I have ever used, feels just like my brand new gaxaly Note 4. The units navigation is awesome, and all the buttons and shortcuts can be adjusted to your liking, so no heavy navigation through menus to find what you want. Now for my favorite part...

It has Apple car play/ Android Auto! Basically there are 2 usb ports on the rear of the unit, one for apple, one for android. Pick the one you want, select the correct one during the Initial setup wizard, and install the correct app on your phone.

I use android auto, so I will speak to that.

I plug my phone in, and almost immediately it kicks my bluetooth on and connects to the head unit, as well as open s a second UI, which is basically my phone. There is access to spotify, Pandora, phone book, texts, a long list of apps are compatible, icuding Google maps, the same maps on your android. The main menu of the android auto UI gives me traffic information, weather updates, and quick gps destinations based on my direction of travel and history. The bluetooth notifies you when you have a text, and will ask you if you want it to be read out loud, you can also send texts via bkuetooth, which is amazingly accurate. You can give it a destination, Google things, and get weather for anywhere just by asking on bluetooth.

Android auto is basically just your phone, so what you can do on your phone in terms of music, maps, and weather, you can do over bluetooth.

That is probably all jumbled and I hope it makes sense, would clean it up but I am on the go at the moment and don't have any more time to type!

Well, I'm sold. The only question left for me is which one! Did you do much research on the differences between the 7100 and 8100 when you got yours? I also see that some retailers still have stock on the 7000 and 8000 substantially cheaper so I might go that route.

From what I saw, there isn't much difference between the 7100 and 8100 currently, but according to pioneer, they are working on new stuff for the 8100 and the android auto on the 8100, they are calling It their flagship unit, so all the support is for the 8100.

Just be sure to order it from someone with a warranty just incase
