Bugs in radiator

Lots of bugs here in Idaho and I really have hard time just letting them pack in the ac condenser so I would like to know if anyone has good fix for this like a pre treat to spray on or a screen in front of radiator. Thanks for input.

 

id say a fine mesh screen. Don't want to restrict too much air flow though. You could probably put it right behind the grill cheap and easy.

 

A pressure washer held away from the condenser at a distance. Make sure you spray straight at the fins or else you risk bending them from the pressure of the water. There is no other real option.

 

Screen behind the grill would be interesting. It would get dirty fast though, and be a pain to clean.

Can't seem to edit in post above ....

I put black metal residential window screen behind my grill when my Taco was new. I used small black zipties to attach them. I did 2 screens - one behind the upper and one behind the lower grills. The cost was maybe 15 bucks.

The first shot shows the screen is not noticeable until you get within 5 feet.

The second shows how it's mounted.

The third shows the screens from the back - taken from the top, between the grills and the rads.

The third shows the rad and condenser taken from below.

My '12 is now 41 months old and the rads look like new. I clean the screens as needed with a plastic brush - like a big toothbrush.

the bugs eventually decompose and disappear... dust to dust ya know

 

These are a bit expensive, but they fit reasonably well and keep most bugs out.

 

SHADOW , Do you have a link you could post as to where you got the above screens ? Your truck looks good with those screens. How are they attached ?

In the frugal diy thread there are a couple members who have gotten plastic screens for gutters and attached them inside the grilles with zip ties.

They have threaded studs welded on the back that allow you to clamp them to the existing grill. All you need to install them is a 9mm socket. They are made of stainless steel and come in black and chrome.

Soak them with Simple Green and hose off.

What Fury posted above. Aluminum window screen behind the grille, attach as you please. I use brass wire because I think it looks cool.
