Hey guys someone sent me this picture and told me to try it but I don't know how. I have the pioneer 5700bhs hu with parking brake bypass. Do I need adapters and other cables ? Besides the regular iPhone charger cable through usb.

    Hi! Newbie here.
I ran across this thread from a google search with the same issue. My son-in-law and I have been working on this same issue for me over and over for the past 4 days. We've both been on vacation and I've had his vehicle sitting right next to mine (he has an Acura MDX with a Pioneer AppRadio 3 and mine is an Explorer Limited with a brand new Pioneer x5700BHS). I/we both have the iphone 6 and have gone from car to car trying to get the same results, but, nothing. On mine , we can't get it to "mirror". We've tried numerous times with numerous different apps, cables, settings and we even tried to change some of the different file formats of the recorded video. On mine, sound only. On his... perfect. The only differences on the two are the stereo models and the cord. He was able to connect to the back of his, which was a special cord that he was able to plug into the back of his radio that had an available plug location for an HDMI cable plug-in that brought out a wire to the cabin that had an opening for USB to lightning. After no manipulation, other than changing the input to AV, it immediately "mirrored" his screen (I tried my phone as well and the same results). Once we took it to my car, only audio. We'll be on it for a couple of days yet, but it doesn't look good. He's a very intelligent IT guy that runs his own business doing this kind of stuff and I "used to" be a professional installer... As of now, nothing, but if we do come up with something, I'll jump back on here to let you know what I find out. If you would do the same, I'd appreciate it, thanks! - Mark

Not sure if you already figured out how to mirror your iPhone 6 in your car but thought maybe I can help. Because my deck doesn't have an HDMI port available, I had to run my HDMI cable through a converter (that requires its own power via a USB cable). So I used the Apple Lightning Digital AV adaptor, that connected to the converter (HDMI to RCA) via HDMI cable, that then connected to the back of my deck via RCA cable/kenwood av cable. In order to mirror the Iphones (5 and up), it has to be a digital signal. If you just connect the iphone via a USB cable, you will only get Audio. Seems like your son-in-laws special cord that connected to the HDMI port in the back of his deck acted like the apple lightning digital AV adaptor. Hope that helps if you haven't already got it to work.

Geez that's a lot of extra crap to hide behind the scenes. Does the deck work well as a mirror? My iphone6 responds very well, but I don't think I'd enjoy trying to navigate it on my lethargic head unit.

    Btw I have the 3700bhs.

Found Mirrorlink to be annoying after awhile and don't even use it anymore. I'm in and out of the vehicle quite often throughout the day it became a chore to set it up. Longer one stop commutes would probably be more convenient.

Personally, the reason I tried to mirror my phone was to put the navigation maps on the head unit. However, I stopped because it was just a hassle to setup. I ended up getting a magnetic mount and mounting my phone to the windshield. My head unit (KENWOOD DDX317) responded fairly well.
