I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Our Diesel was getting cheaper than Gasoline too, but our state run by party of "Lets Tax Any Shit we Can" quickly applied more taxes... They tried to get gasoline but realized most people need gasoline to get to welfare office so that maybe not that good for next state elections.
    :)
EDIT: Its not political I have not mention any party by name :D

Yup, hackers are great people. BTW notice how they have said they will be releasing the way to hack into a Jeep or Chrysler product with the UConnect installed soon?

Reason 1 billion why not to own anything from that autogroup.

Wonder if it is because of all the farming? (we only have been here a year)...diesel is definitely king here, land of the truck too. Awfully refreshing seeing parking lots full a trucks...

Lots of farming here. We see Diesel here at around gas prices during the summer and up to a 30% difference between the two fuels in the winter.

It's hard to compare Canada and the USA though because of the tax system differences. If Diesel could stay within 10% of gas pricing and the Diesel EGR and Urea injection systems were a bit more mature for this level of emissions I think Diesel would become a lot more lucrative for personal vehicles.

Which part of Idaho are you from again? I usually go down to Pocatello area once a year for some tater conferences.

it is so hard to tell with fuel prices, since they fluctuate so much, which would be better on the wallet (this is owning the truck 10-15 years) ...in all reality it would be a wash in the end, i would guess. It is looking like Toyota isn't offering a manual trans in the lowend trucks, which means to get a manual trans, would have to buy an OR, guessing that will be around $33-35K....so if.....and only if GM offers the diesel in the lowend truck...guessing it might come in around the same price. I would have to give up my manual trans, but would get great fuel economy and all of the torques... :D

We are about 30 minutes West of Boise, actually no potato farms here. Fruit, corn, wheat, mint, lavender, alfalfa, etc...

Seems like the most popular configure of truck here is 3/4-1 tons diesels with a flat bed.

This thread's run its course and is being closed. To those that feel they haven't said their peace or want to continue down the current path, get off the computer, go outside and do summer.

If any other threads pop up to complain about this one, those threads will be closed and vacations will be handed out.
