What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yeah unfortunately I don't know how and don't have the equipment/time to learn. lol.

I spoke to Eric about them fitting. I told him what I wanted from the beginning. He said they should fit. I didn't actually place them in there yet. I really hope mine aren't a problem. Will find out soon.

 

I've been trying to find a place to recycle mine, normal auto stores don't do it. Got 2 gallons sitting in the garage as we speak.

You didn't do the tstat when you did the water pump? With the pain in the ass it is to get to I figure everyone just does it all at once.

 

I was thinking the same thing, I've always done both even if the thermostat is still good. Since you're in that far may as well

I replaced the non working factory radio with a JVC from Crutchfield.

 

I found pink stuff behind the thermostat housing...... If my water pump is leaking, might as well have the timing belt replaced. Recommended time is 90,000 miles, right?

 

Can't wait to install just waiting for my Alarcon leafs.

 

Yes on 90k for timing belt. Normally people will do timing belt, tstat, water pump and most of the time the idler pulleys all at the same time.

 

Wasent an issue so no.

 

If I can get the time I will be doing Timing belt, water pump, Idler pulleys, tensioner, cam seals, acc. belts, plugs & wires, valve cover gaskets, oil change, coolant flush, replace all the vacuum lines, rear axle breather relocation, Gray Wire Mod, and a few other odds and ends... all this weekend, hopefully. If I'm lucky I'll get 1/3 of done this weekend. So much to do so little time.

 

Well I've decided that I don't have the time, nor the confidence to take on the timing belt. I've diagnosed my issue as a leaky lower radiator hose and a leaking water pump. I'm at 91,000 miles, so I am looking at different shops to do the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, radiator hose, coolant flush, and anything else that should be done. I had all external belts and pulleys replaced a couple months ago.

 

Take it to the dealership

 

Those dim wits would install corolla parts and refill the radiator with tap water...

 

Mine would install Lexus parts to up the price lmao

sound deadened behind rear speakers. the factory stuff was half peeled off and hard as a rock.

 

Changed the oil, topped off my brake fluid and washed it!

 

Any ideas how to fix this? I know it will never blend unless i paint the whole cab. I was just going to sand it down and paint a star or starwars symbol or something over it..
