I am contemplating taking the wife and kids over to Petit Jean one of these weekends for a day trip. Got a couple of questions though.

I will have a 2 year old and a 3 year old with me, probably have to carry the 2 year old most of the time. Just keep that in mind with your answers.

    1) Best place to park/start at?

    2) I hear of a waterfall and that is on my wifes bucket list. Best place to access this?

    3) Can my kids get to the waterfall pretty easily or is one of those West side of Pinnacle trails (straight up).

    Any advice would be appreciated!

First, keep both kids on a tight "leash" many drop offs for curious kiddos. As you make it to the top of the hill, the first overlook to your right has spectacular views. Drive to the Visitors Center and take the trail (couple hours there and back) to Cedar Falls, but it may be Cedar Drips if we don't get any rain. On past the Visitors Center on right (N) are the Bear Cave boulders which are real cool to crawl around. But again, keep a hand on the kids. In this heat, take plenty of water and some snacks. Enjoy...

Don't go out onto the Rock House or Boy Scout Trail with the kids. Stick to the short loops. Not much to see and it's a bit lengthy. There is a good overlook for sunsets where Hwy 155 meets Hwy 154.

Awesome info guys. The whole kid falling of a cliff thing freaks me out, but I still want to take them and just deal with the high blood pressure.

We have talked about the trip, but like mentioned, I think it just might be too hot and too dry right now.

We have also talked about getting a cabin at Mt. Nebo. I hear it is beautiful.

Sad thing is, I grew up in Arkansas (2 hours south of little rock) and never went to either of these.

Any interest? Tacoma TSS wheels and 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. Wheels and spacers are around 1.5 years old and in good shape. Asking $550. Local pickup in Maumelle, AR or buyer secures shipping.

Tires are 265 70 17 Toyo Open Country AT2 with a little bit of life left.

Bad time of the year to go camping here in my opinion. Took hot to sleep comfortably at night. I'd wait till the leaves start to turn color. Mt. Nebo is great, but Mt. Magazine is better. The lodge also has a good breakfast.

I agree with it being to hot. We just moved here a few months ago and haven't been on a date in a year...so we are itching to do something.

    I'll check Mt. Magazine out.

Another option that is closer to Little Rock for a good day trip is going out to Lake Winona, Lake Sylvia, and Flatside Pinnacle. Go down Hwy 10 from LR until you get to Williams Junction and then you can head down some fireroads to get to a bunch of places out there. Have some maps or GPS with you though, not much cell service in my experience.

Btw...no rust on these just dirty. A couple dings from wrench and alignment.
