Good deal. Make sure they can do that. In this forum others have said it can't be done. Has the dealer done it before? And if it goes bad will you get in writing you'll get a free ECU installed? They are wayyy expensive.

You mean parts... The SC/fit kit/2 gallons antifreeze/shop rags. My install cost included the update to my ECU at no cost. Part of the 10 hrs labor. Luckily I had 4 dealers in my area and one does more TRD stuff than any others. They have a TRD customer desk even. To take my money.

Yea they said they do this all the time. Once they install s/c they have to reprogram ecu so that transmission shift will compensate with the s/c.

Yep, its called a reflash. Its usually included in the install or about $100 if you installed yourself. Boost means more fuel and air so your ECU needs an uodated tune to compensate for all of that.

    Lots...
    So bad news to me...

Today I went to my dealer and had a long talk with the manager and the head of the mechanics... They told me again that the Tacomas sold in Mexico after 2010 cannot be reflashed. Toyota Mexico put a lock to the ecu so they cannot reflash it... they told me that 6 months ago a costumer wanted the SC no mater what, and that after 5 different ecu they managed to "make it work", the problem is that they believe it's not working at a 100% because MPG's lowered dramatically and the temp gauge is not working anymore.

I talked with some guys that are experts on tunning ecus and they told me the same thing... so... maybe my taco is not going to be supercharged :'(

I will write an email to the corporate and see what's their answer...

Wow that sucks. While you wait you should source a SC and fit kit right away though. There are few left.

    Yes sir
Soooooo, I've never really looked into superchargers because you know, they cost a lot... but is there no other aftermarket company that was competing against Toyota? I mean, you've got all these different lift kits, CAI's, armour companies, etc. but only one choice for a supercharger that is good quality?

Its not that it was assembled in Mexico, because yours was assembled for the Northamerican market... Mine was assembled in Mexico for Mexican market, so they have different maps in the ecu...

Did you reprogram your truck for the update before installing supercharger? Or you not?

I did not have my ECU flashed with any updates before the Supercharger was installed.

Couldn't you buy a ecu off eBay? They are $150 on there. I guess you're taking a risk that it already hasn't been flashed yet

Check my build thread...too much to list.
I'm searching from both sides of the country for one. I got my local dealer in FL looking and my in-laws shop in Hawaii looking. If I can't find one I'll be pretty disappointed.
