Back on actual topic, if the 270hp/260lbft figures are official, I'd like to believe that's the power output per Atkinson cycle.

If the engine can indeed switch to Otto cycle on the fly, and the PCM's lookup tables include tuning algorithms for performance or working under load, the the 270hp might not be the engine's true power output.

300hp rating in Otto cycle for this engine is very possible if those algorithms include more timing advance setups when utilizing high octane fuel.

    Just food for thought.

The only practical way to turn water (hydraulic) into mechanical power is either by pure fluid mechanics (Pascal law) in a sealed hydraulic power system, or by steam power (thermodynamics) where the steam vapor from boiling water drives a turbine for mechanical power.

Hence I said "practical". Yes, water through electrolysis can get you Hydrogen, which can then be used in a fuel cell electric setup.

But that's not the same as powered directly by water. It requires electrical energy (electrolysis) to get hydrogen from water. That's why it's not practical yet, even though it's doable and the technology isn't new.

Anyway I'll return tonight if there're more questions or comments or false accusations directed my way

All bolt ons + tuning solution. Capable of running high 13's.
    Dont think too hard.

The maximum rate is with Otto there is no question about it.
Who knows if toyota implements an ECO mode that forces the engine to run always on Atkinson cycle and a Performance mode to force the Otto.
