So I got the race done and checked off my bucket list. It was tough. Real tough. Lots of climbing, lots of hike-a-bike. Thankfully I didn't have any mechanical issue with my bike. Not even a flat! My time was 7:14. The course cutoff is at 8 hours.

My buddy I rode with got a lottery coin for the Leadville 100 MTB, so I think I will try to get in next years to see if I can join him.

    Nice work!

Endurance racing can be a great way to expand your ideas about what is possible. Once you finish something that you thought might be too hard, you start wondering what other things you might have been assuming you couldn't do that you could.

If you don't get into Leadville (or if you do) consider doing one of these:

It was a dumb wipe out. Lost front tire traction on a cambered section and couldn't recover quick enough. Front tire slipped and I landed on my arm and shoulder. Good thing it wasn't a fast section.

yup used to go there before changing over to Trestle as my DH choice...should go back to keystone one of these days to see how it's doing

definitely rougher than Trestle...which can be a good thing if you like technical trails...most the trails are rockier and rootier

Cowboy up>TNT>Paid in Full is fun

Money is good...Eye of the Tiger is surprising for a blue

i forget which trail has the corkscrew, but that one is a mental challenge

Thanks! It's actually the SB6c, which is just the 6" travel version of the 5c with a beefier wheelset and frame. It descends better than the 5c and somehow still climbs the same!

Keystone is by far the worst place to ride dude....be ready to case a least one of your wheels....suuuuper bumpy and not maintained at all. I would try to ride somewhere else.

I really enjoyed it actually, im pretty used to riding really beat up rocky trails in Chattanooga, makes it challenging to go fast.

that's the fun thing about keystone...it's raw and challenging...definitely different than trestle...

which i was glad to make it up for a final trip to trestle yesterday...felt great to get a last hit on my favorite trails there..

started off the day taking the long way down... upper roof>lost trail>lower roof>gunbarrel>green world>lonesome whistle>little vasquez>lower arapahoe>tunnel hill
    [IMG]

then i moved over to the more typical routes... rainmaker full>lower long>jury duty>boulevard

and finished off with a couple trips down double jeopardy with slight variations... shyann>DJ>free speech>lower long full>boulevard then final run finished with another tunnel hill instead of lower long>boulevard

    rock garden on double jeopardy
