Okay I stand corrected. The 4 wont consistently get 28 unless you have a base no frill manual reg 2008 cab.

It should improve a little bit also once things get worked in. I can see you being a guy who gets 20-21 mpg's if you got 19 on the first tank.

Most people around these parts add 10lbs extra per tire wanting to look cool and kill their mpg's. The closer you keep it to stock, the better your economy will be.

    Congrats to the OP

I've had my 2015 (TRD OR AC) for over 20K miles. It was purchased in Oct 2014.

Because I am self employed I keep pretty good mileage records:

    Best Tank MPG - 19.93
    Worst Tank MPG - 16.96
Average over 20K miles is 18.42
Fuel cost in northern NJ is 13 cents/mi

I think I drive pretty normally, don't tow very often, and I drive mostly in suburbia.

The truck has been rock solid and I have zero complaints. I don't know what the dealer service dept even looks like.

Weathertechs, a bed mat (OEM), and installed LED lights under the hood are my only accessories.

You really cannot get a good MPG number on the dealer fill-up. First it may not have been full. They usually go to first click. Second did they reset the trip at their fill-up? Your next couple tanks will be more accurate. Actually the V6 six speed standard is not all that poor. What happens is most people have a heavy foot on the pedal. I average around 22 mixed driving and get over 24 HWY.

My brother was driving and he can stretch the mpg's pretty good. I've gotten 26 mpg on the interstate already.

I drove my stock OR 400mls a tank a few times...(but don't lift it and stay away from bigger tires) :)
