Yeah that's what I did too. Started with using the plasti dip on the logos. I found the white at WalMart. Just make sure you get the plasti dip gloss too to use as the final coat, or else it won't shine like the paint does.

I thought about doing the fog light inserts and valence too to see what it would look like. May do that in the near future.

Guys, you can buy a color matched grill surround for about $180, I got mine for $169 because they beat Camelback Toyota's price. I sold my chrome for $125 a few days later.

I went to my local body shop and they ordered me an OEM unpainted rear bumper from Toyota and painted/installed for $300. I then sold my chrome on CL 2 days later for $250.

Toyota sells them to body shops for $250 unpainted and $650 for chrome

I spent less than $100 on a new OEM grill surround and rear bumper, all it took was a little bit of my time.

^ That's brilliant. I like the chrome bumper on my SR5, less to worry about with scratching a painted bumper. I'll probably plastiDip it white for the winter to protect it then peel it off for spring. I do like the colour matched grill surround though and like you, for $180 I'll just buy a OEM colour matched one.

    Not enough...
Did the same thing. It took about 2 hours to sell mine on CL!

It's like when I lifted my truck. Preload the 5100s to give me my lift or spend 260 all in dollars for a set of OME 885 coils. No brainer for me.

The white derp looks pretty cool.

I think every afrcommer that owns a tacoma posts here.

This is awesome. Been thinking about derping my SR5 chrome bumper. I derped my chrome grille with black Plastidip. Been that way for over 3k miles. Bug problems only exist on the white front bumper. Been washed numerous times in automatic spray only washers. No damage so far.

That's cheap! Tempting... I'm not a fan of Chrome on these SR5's.

If you want a color matched grill then go with Camelback Toyota (or wherever you can find a good price). Mine was around $180 and matched perfect with paint instead of plastidip. I don't have to worry quite as much with chipping. In fact I've had mine for almost 2 years without a mark on it.

    I despise chrome

I also sprayed my rear bumper with color coded rattle can and it matches almost perfectly.

Looks awesome! I'm a big plastidip fan. No prep. Easy too apply. Looks good. And easy to remove if you want. I did my front bumper and it lasted a year before it started peeling in small spots. Just cleaned it up and gave it another coat. Looks good as new

i did the bumper in black 3 yrs ago. I sprayed about 3 layers then 2 layers of clear coat on top. Today, it still looks that same like 3 yrs ago. I was surprised myself. No joking.

Did a temporary 2" patch of white dip acrossmy tailgate to protect the paint from grit under my Softopper magnet strip (will be replaced by clear film). It doesn't match.

Yeah I'm curious as to how it will hold up over time too. So far so good. Been through the car wash a few times and scrubbed bugs off of the front grill and it still looks fine. I'll try to get a few close up photos for you soon.
