Halo 5 : Guardians

Anyone else getting this game? At first showing in 2013 I wasnt to interested, I kinda fell off the Halo wagon. But as more and more information coming out is getting me more pumped for this game.

Also one of my favorite long time actors is coming back to play Old Buck(Nathan Fillion), the badest ODST ever! And from what i can tell from the GameInformer is now a member of Locke team(Fireteam OSIRIS). Hes sporting almost similer ODST Spartan armor from Halo 4 multiplayer.

Coop play looks like its going to be killer with friends or AI.

I got mine yesterday after waiting several days for my "release" day Amazon Prime preorder but I didn't get a chance to really play. I completed the first three missions on legendary and so far I have really enjoyed it. I had to pick up a new controller as well, my old had drifting thumb sticks. Makes playing a shooter kind of tough.

How's the game play? I am a diehard Battlefield guy, haven't touched Halo since Halo 2.

 

Got it, beat the campaign. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the amazing story that Halo 4 was. Halo 5 ended on a massive cliffhanger, and I felt like the momentum was just ramping up to reach an epic climax, and then the game just kind of ended. If you haven't played the campaign yet, forget all the trailers because they will let the campaign down. The actually campaign story was nothing like the trailers said they would be. The first trailer released where the Chief was robed and walking through a desert would probably be better suited for Halo 6 (or Halo 5b).

There is a lot of back story to be able to understand what happened between Halo 4 and 5, and without knowing that Halo 5 could be confusing. There is also a lot of lore stuff that made the ending to halo 5 campaign actually really good (despite what I said above) because you can kind of see how the next Halo game is being set up.

Overall for the campaign, I enjoyed it in single player and will likely play it a few more times by myself and several more times with friends. However I was disappointed in how much focus was on Locke rather than the Chief. Majority of the campaign is played as Locke, and he just a regular soldier who just follows orders, there is nothing special or unique about him, he is just another soldier like you would play as in Battlefield of CoD. I wish more time was spent playing as the Chief, but I am biased towards the Chief, he was/is one of my heros growing up. He's more subtle and confident and the game does good to highlight the difference between the two main characters. In the opening sequences Osiris is more of gun running smash and move crap we've come to know from other first person shooters, whereas Blue Teams entrance is more "subtle" if can call smashing in through a spaceship window subtle. It just had a tone of quiet confidence to it that we've come to love from the Chief.

The online is epic, I love how they did the req system, it levels the playing field. I never liked anything but swat or grifball in old halo games, but Warzone is the most fun I've had in a Halo multiplayer battle in a very very long time. I've only played one game online, but loved it. I've sunk a good 9 hours into the campaign though. Will be playing nothing but online until my other friends complete the campaign and want to join in with me.

 

The biggest issue with this is there is not split screen, campaign or multiplayer, you'll need to get another xbox rather than just another controller.

Got the MC controller, love the green and gold look to it. I also like the feel of the hex pattern where my palms are on the controller.

 

So......you are telling me that they made a Halo game that doesn't support Co-op or split screen on a single console??? GTFO!!

 

Just not the same. I enjoyed halo 2, and the first couple c.o.d's. Tried reach, but just didn't like it. Stopped playing c.o.d after modern warfare 2. What are they up to now, like c.o.d 15? They just killed it for me. A game that had phenomenal multiplayer was ghost recon advanced warfighter 2!

 

I know, it's kind of a pain, a friend and I had to hand the controller back and forth so we could both play halo 5, we gave up and went to the MCC and it nice to be able to do split screen that way.

I did spend some more time playing warzone this weekend and I really enjoy that game mode. I enjoy the other modes as well in arena, but warzone is the reason to play halo 5 in my opinion, it's really fun, especially with friends online.

 

I got, enjoyed it. Me and few buddys are doing legendary story right now. On mission 10. Not to bad, Just hard to get the 3 of use together at the same time. Both warzones are fun. Been swaping from Halo 5 and AC:S, Sucks Fallout 4 is right around the corner, to much to play not enough time.

 

Got the Locke one. Love it, Now I can use my other headsets.

Reviving...anyone able to play multi player online split screen (i.e. You and someone else on the same Xbox at one house playing online against other friends on their own box at another house)...used to be able to do it easily with Halo on 360 but can't seem to do it with 5 on the bone...
