    Howdy all,
I have a Giant Trance 1 2014. The Fox fork is a 32 Talas 120/140. I found a great deal on a Float 34 FIT. Is it worth the swap on the fork to go from a 32 to 34? The 34 does have the Kashima coating.

Depends what kind of riding you do. According to Fox, the 32 is meant for cross country riding. The 34 is meant for trail riding, the 36 is for all mountain riding and the 40 is for downhill. I don't know what Fox considers trail riding or cross country. To put it in perspective though, I weigh 240 with my gear on and I use my 34 on some nice black diamond downhill trails. Lots of jumps and steep decents and its holding up well (I may go up to the 36 in the future just to get more travel).

Ah', I'm 190 geared up. I do Marshall Canyon and Webb. I like to do more descent stuff now... or I'm trying to lol. I'll try the 34 it does have a tiny bit more travel and my 32 is ready for a rebuild.

What year is that Trance? The X4 is the cheapest in the Trance line and does not have the best fork, shock and drivetrain. Not terrible, but not that great. $950 sounds high to me, I wouldn't go over $800. The Hope hubs are a nice upgrade, but there are other things on that bike that I would have upgraded before the hubs.

Nice setup! Wish I knew about the Kuat when I bought my rack. Question on your truck setup. What size tires are you running, and do you have wheel spacers? I have the same wheels.

Hey bud. It is a 2012. I was thinking of starting at $800 and maybe working to $850 at the most.

New pic of my bike. Added KS LEV DX (dropper post), Spank Spike pedals, Hope Pro 2 EVO hubs, DT Swiss Champion spokes, Stans ZTR Flow rims and Ice Tech rotors in 203 and 180mm. Next major upgrade is going to be the brakes. Been wanting some dual pistons for some of these new trails I've been doing.

Yeah, my experience selling my used bikes is that you get about half of what the retail value was, and any upgrades don't add much. That's why I was saying don't go over $800, giving a little credit for the Hope hubs. Personally, I wouldn't go over $700 for that model due to the coil fork, Giant rear shock, and low-end drivetrain. I would expect a Fox Float on the rear and an air fork, and SLX or better drivetrain. Those are all things you can upgrade and might eventually have to replace anyway. The Trance is a great bike, though.

been doing some upgrades to the iron horse...real happy with the new setup so far...would love a new front fork after feeling the difference with the new rear shock...

wasn't happy with the crank bros 50/50 pedals and the cleat design, so i swapped over to a set of Shimano DX PD-M647...much better cleat design with shimano and the pedals are great so far..

bit the bullet and threw down for a X-Fusion Hilo dropper with remote...big fan of the dropper given the variety of terrain seen in our trails...

swapped out the fox float R that came with the bike for a Fox float CTD...digging the 3 position option (ascend, trail and descend)...descend mode is so smooth! this makes me want to throw down on a new front fork

this is the first full season with the Spank subrosa wheelset i had built last year..wrapped with some Kenda Nevegal UST tires...next step on the wheelset will need to be my hubs...might do the hubs and front fork at the same time to move up in axle size...

so i got my new to me bike in today. a 2014 trek remedy 7 27.5. it had a ks e-ten remote dropper on it already and he included some new tires, bontrager XR4 which are solid tires. might end up switching the rear to their new SE5 but ill see how i like the XR4's long term. ive only ridden them on demo bikes.

i rode it around my neighborhood a little and immediately noticed how much stiffer the wheels are(15mm TA front and 12x142 rear), but that should be a given considering I was riding QRs front and rear. I also noticed it was a bit lighter than my 2011 fuel EX which I was also hoping for considering its a few years newer and even the 2014 fuel ex 8 29er was lighter than my old bike.

anyways initially i was going to sell the e-ten and put on a ks lev dropper but i was riding around with the e-ten and didn't think it was a bad dropper. initially i was having trouble getting the seat to lock in the up position but now it is fine. it might need a new spring but we will see. I'm trying to decide whether i should sell the e-ten anyways and get a lev or use that money towards some new wheels or even a new pike since it has a revelation on it right now. i already have some XT brakes on the way and I don't care to swap out the SLX rear der since it is already shadow plus. any suggestions are appreciated!

This is for the desert riders. This is about as much sun as you get in the Virginia woods. Great day on the Camber 29er.image.jpg

Nice rides, guys. Rode yesterday in the heat, then again this morning and blew my chain into 2 pieces. I've never seen one do that, but it was a SRAM and blew apart at the PowerLock when the other part went, so maybe that doesn't count. I clean and lube after every ride, and the chain had just less than 100 miles on it, so I have to think something wasn't right. Nobody had a chain tool on them, but luckily I was near the top, so I at least got to mostly ride out.

Another good use for a dropper post -- if you bust your chain, you can drop it and Fred Flintstone your way back.

That was kinda sad to read. They announced it yesterday but didn't provide any details except the race was cancelled in light of the events.

edit: more details in Velo News.
