On the larger diameter a/c line there will be a switch with two wires sticking out. Disconnect the connecter. Start truck, turn on a/c and use a jumper wire and connect the two wires. If the compressor runs, you are just low on freon. If it makes the belt squeal the compressor is locked up. If it does nothing you need to check for 12v at the compressor clutch.

Hook manifold gauge set or a suitable pressure gage to the low side service port if it reads under 30# the low pressure switch will not allow the compressor to run and the system needs to be recharged. If this is the case you can buy a 134a recharge kit at many auto parts stores or truck stops for around $30 But if you have lost the charge it means you have a leak which you need to find and fix or it will just leak out again. It may last a year or just a few mins depending on leak.
