tell me you went up the road that branched off, past that campsite...that's the road to Paradise. Its a dead end but its a pretty cool area. Nice little campground at the end too.

Brian only got us "lost" like 4 times! And by lost it was more 2 minutes down a road and then hear "uh we were supposed to go the other way".

That other camp spot looks nice but ours was pretty nice too. The river was all of 10 feet behind our trucks. The all important pooper was 200 yards or so. Hard ot beat!

Here are a few more pics...

The customary air-down picture taken just a few miles beyond Elk City:

Lots of areas previously affected by fire:

    Burnt Knob Lookout:

    The Day 1 misfits:

This guy and his buddy had a campsite nearby. They're both at least 71 years old and this guy used to own a performance head/engine shop. Had tales and tales of stories about old cars and modifying them and gun shows, etc. Was a little hard of hearing as well. Nick says, "What's your favorite caliber, a 38 or a 44?" He ponders for a sec and replies, "Oh yeah, that '44 I had was a beauty. Had performance headers, holly carb...." They kept us company for a bit:

At the same time, a deer that looked veeeery comfortable around humans wouldn't stop coming by the campsite. Just like a homeless dog. I tried to make it jump into the back of my truck and lay down under a tarp until I returned home but it wouldn't accept the offer:

On the way home, there was a warning about dust and wind before going down the gorge. Shit they weren't kidding. It was the windiest conditions I've ever driven through:
