Check out @T4C0CH40S build and trip photos before you start judging a 2wd overland.

 

I know his build, but still would never pick a 2wd for an overland vehicle. Think of where you should be going with that vehicle. Way too likely to get into a spot where a 2wd really shouldn't be and will have no way to properly recover itself. I know all about building a 2wd, but still wouldn't for overland purposes.

 

It's not about where you should go, but where you want to go. Just because someone has an overland vehicle, doesn't mean they need to find every 4x4 trail necessary to be one. The term means "by land", very generic and no different than the term "expedition", like I use from time to time in my build. Its a Journey regardless. I want to do certain trails, see certain places and know what I can do within reason. I build mine the way it is to go camping and do the things I want to do in AZ and in places with similar terrain that allow me to get by just fine in 2wd. I understand the 4x4 mentality and the vulnerability of a 2wd, but don't assume a 2wd cant be an "overland" or "expedition" rig. To each their own

 

Like you said, to each their own. I don't see a 2wd as being a proper overland, and definitely not expedition, vehicle. I imagine going to extremely remote locations, places a 2wd likely wouldn't make it, no matter how hard we push our 2wd/prerunners. I know you've done some cool stuff, as have i, but what i consider overlanding/expedition may be different than what you or anyone else considers it. Again, like you said, to each their own.

 

I'm sure it's directed towards a travel truck that you can sleep in, not necessarily "hardcore" off-road...

All's I know is I got a bad ass overland, expedition, make ya stand up and beg for buttermilk, smack the horse on the ass, make ya thank the baby jesus you were born to see it....build. So don't be hatin on the black sand pearl beotch...LOL
