In various places in my manual it says Type A, Type B, Type C etc but no where does it define what those terms mean.

For example on tire sizes it has a Type A 15" and Type B wider 15", Type C 16", etc.

Does that mean my Tacoma can be configured ABCDE or does that mean I have a Type A and can only use that Type A sized tire.?

All manner of other A B stuff as well, seats, visors, etc.

I'm just trying to figure out if I can run 16" wheels or not. I posted in wheel forums but no responses, checked the manual and the internet galore and nothing definitive.

I don't think 16" wheels will be a problem. What is important is offset and tire size. Too much offset could cause wheel bearing problems. Too little offset or large diameter or width in tires could cause something to rub in tight turns or when the suspension is flexed.

Thanks for that. I finally got on the phone and hashed this out with a CariD rep and settled on 16" Maxiim Chance Rims and Sumitomo 235 60R16 Tires.

I asked all those kinds of questions and got them answered to my satisfaction and research and found talking to the guy on the phone netted a discount as well beyond the web price. Not a lot but free locks and some bucks off the bottom line.

Guess I will take this to a tire shop for mounting and balancing and to get TPMS re-programmed. I do have an OBD if anyone knows a shortcut.
