Damn, I wish I was having your engine problems. All I did was replace my TPS and now my engine runs great. Sad. I was looking for a reason to swap.

Dibs on rear bumper. Jk i would throw a fit at autozone if they didn't warranty it. If it comes down to it buy a wrecked truck and a lot of beer, then invite anybody you know that will turn a wrench and make a frankentruck

Haha you probably wouldn't want the rear bumper, would take some fabbing to get it to fit as a normal bumper (I cut the mounts up a little for my bed Bob..) Yea I'm gunna try my best to get them to warranty it , that's definitely an option, might just buy somethin off Craigslist..

mmmmm...pretty sure toyota motors are non interference. Least the ones im familar with..with the 3rz isn't one that im totally in the know about.

Went wheeling yesterday. Finally got my truck up on the pyramid at our local off-road park. I been trying for 2 years..lol..no spotter either


I think my son did more wheeling than I did. It was a blast seeing my lil man "rock crawl" lol

 

wether it's the rod bearing or a broken rod it's still a problem I can't fix without having a new reman. Even then it will still be a PITA for me to swap an engine...

My girlfriends dad thinks I should just grab a v6 ext cab 4x4 that's running nice and swap over what I can, then pursue the warranty on the motor and try to sell the engine that I get from warranty and the rest of the parts from the 4cyl that I can't swap.. Definitely a decent option..

 

So did you do any tests yet? Two toyota techs told u to check fuel pressure.... takes 5 seconds.

Just got home 5 mins ago, bout to do the test after I eat a little. Got the compression gauge too. I'll do the fuel test first since it's probably easier..

Just gunna disconnect the rubber hose connected to the regulator and crank it to see how much squirts out right? Dribble = bad squirt = good? Haha..

 

Thats awesome, Fernando, congratulations. Those photos don't do 'the pyramid' justice. Mostly buggies on 35's or bigger climb that thing.

 

Lmao... Derp.. I put a rag on the end of the hose but not the regulator thing and a bunch of gas squirted out of the regulator hahaha.. Oops.. The pump definitely had some pressure.. Wasn't just a dribble, it was a squirt.

Now to the compression.

 

Knew it.. Compression #'s:
1@ 180 (slow drop)
2@ 180 (slow drop)
3@ 30 (fast drop less than 10 seconds till 0)
4@ 25 (same as 3)

No, your fuel filter is right under the intake manifold on the 4cyl right? Crack a banjo bolt loose and crank it

 

So are you going to do a leak down now to see if it's the valves or rings. Or do you know for sure its the rings. I also had a misfire. I ended having a cracked head on #3. I just got a new head and swapped it.

 

Nah, going to try to have autozone warranty it since its less than a year old by about a month and a couple days. Hopefully will be able to snag a v6 4x4 in the meantime.

Yep filter is under intake manifold, my girl cranked it for like 5 seconds, shit was sprayin everywhere. I just disconnected the hose from the regulator @ the fuel rail, seemed like it was pressurized to me
