So I have been reading many of the threads on hear about problems with AC for a 2006 Toyota Tacoma and i've done them all and still no AC. To start off, I took my truck to a "family friends" auto shop (he was actually the previous owner) and he told me the blower motor went out and it was going to be around $900 to fix it.. So i've been looking up how to do it myself and it looked easy and extremely cheaper. I ordered the $65 part and put it in myself and it did nothing. Then was reading about the resistor. So I took the resistor out and it looked pretty bad so I went to a Toyota shop and bought a new resistor. Put it in the truck while I was still in the parking lot and it also did nothing. So I went back in and asked about it and the man said I need to also replace the connector to the resistor. So I bought that part.. Went home and cut the old one off and striped the wires and connected the new piece. That also did nothing.... It seems there is no power getting anything. No noises are being made from anything and the AC light button does not come on. Basically, if my car was off as compared to running it would look and sound the same when I try and turn the AC on or mess with the switches. Please help! I live in Texas and it's so hot with no AC.

Does your blower work on heat or defrost? If so that's eliminated. Then get a voltmeter and look for power at the compressor also check the low pressure switch. hope this helps, its a start.

No, nothing seems to be receiving power. I've messed with all the switches. heat, ac, low, high, head, feet, and defrost. No sounds or lights. I have not checked for power at the compressor. I'll have to try this tomorrow. Hope that solves it. Thank you!

Yes, I checked every fuse in my truck with a test meter. Even replaced the ones having to do with the AC.

I am starting to think it could be the AC control panel. I pulled off the control panel, I don't see burn marks. I did notice that when I turn the directional dial on the right (the one going from face, feet, both, to defrost) from face to defrost there is a slight noise coming from the blower motor. Slight movement noise. But when I turn the speed dial from off to any speed nothing happens. I also noticed that the light for the air to circulate in the cab can be turned on and off, but the light for the AC never comes on. There are two connections going into the control panel so is there two different power sources coming from it? I guess the question is can the blower motor NOT be receiving info to turn on and change speeds but is receiving info to do something when I turn it from blowing on the face to defrost? If they are separated then that could be the solution, that the blower motor is not even being told to switch on or change speeds?? Not sure, just taking a wild guess.

    Thanks for all the help.
