It does pretty well. I have a CO2 tank from beer brewing that I just need a regulator for. The compressor will be my back up. I think for less than $60 it's pretty good. All the reviews I read say it's solid. I've wheeled with a few people who also say it's solid. It takes about 15 minutes to air up from 12psi to 40 on 235 85 R16's. If I were to air up another vehicle I'd probably let it cool down for a bit first.

If all you're doing is filling tires, I think the tank is not necessary. It's just going to add 20lbs to your truck, but it will save you a little bit of time filling tires. AFAIK, the ARB does fine in hot weather. The thing I like about it is that it's 100% duty cycle and the fastest of anything its size (6.16CFM).

I have a viair 88p. Have not had it long. Have used it 3 times. It does get smoking hot airing up all 4 tires in 100 degree temp.

I love my vair 300p. I've used it more times than I can remember and always works like a champ. Three weeks ago I did all four of my 315s from 12lbs to 30lbs and then two of the Jeeps 40s, whos OBA failed, without ever giving it a rest.

Someone on TW recommended one from Pep Boys a while ago. I ordered it online (MasterFlow Tsunami MF-1050 12v: $50)
I dropped one of my 255 70 17 down to 15 pounds and counted the time it took to pump it back up to 35lbs. It took 2:15 to get it back up. I was impressed and glad I got it. Fits nicely behind the rear passenger seat in a case of its own.

I got one of the Viairs, 400P, which has better duty cycles than the 420, so read the fine print. It had the best duty cycle of several similar models, and Home Depot, of all places, had a screaming deal on it, online only. The bag is cheesy, and so is the hose and chuck/gage. I'm setting it up in a Plano gun range box with a Flexzilla hose and a Milton inflator chuck/gauge. If you are interested, I'll sniff out details later. I'm not totally thrilled with the Milton. The locking chuck did not fit the wheel on my 1st gen wheels/valve stems (little lock lever was difficult to manipulate against the wheel), and the gauge readings were high/off. I had to fine tune final pressure with a digital gauge, which was a bit annoying.

Only used it a couple times in Utah last fall, worked great, pretty quick.

Oh, and you should look into some Staun deflators. Very impressive little bit of kit. The ones I got were preset at 18 psi, and were dead on. Screw them on, walk away, and they shut off automatically. By the time you get them all on the stems, the first tire is almost done. And you can adjust and calibrate them if you want.

Oh look pics. I haven't made it all fit in the box yet ( I got two boxes, the one in the truck has hitches and tools), and I'll need to mod the box tray to make it fit, but the compressor drops right in.

Do you have some? I read several field reviews of several brands with different fetures. The Stauns were more expensive, but they stood out in precision, ease of use, and quality. You get what you pay for...

I wish I did! I've got the cheap ones, with the key ring. They do the job, but not nearly as nice as the Stauns.

I just did this through Pep Boys last week. It was 35% off picked up in store. Ended up being something like $42. Seems to work pretty well. Worth the $ so far

I've been using this one for a few years now, even in the ocitillo desert in the middle of summer.

Regarding air... I saw this mod yesterday and thought it was one of the coolest things I've seen done to a Tacoma in a while:

    Belt driven air compressor
