BlueT running his mouth still

@BlueT, I ignored you, so go :brianr:. Really. I'm done with your posts. As a wise man once said:

BTW, I run a steel bumper with the plastic over to keep a factory look. Maybe check out someone's build thread before assuming what they have. The ARB, with hoops, will stop everything up to a deer coming through the window which is great. However, I doubt in conventional crashes, or carsh tests, it would do any better than what's been designed specifically with safety in mind. That was the topic of conversation before you grabbed onto one bit of the comment like a poor fat kid grabs a donut and ran with it.

I prefer the stock look, but run an ARB for animal strikes, also a great anchor point for a canoe....not to mention makes an awesome place to put my coffee cup/tools for doing oil changes.

The ARB works well on deer, not on moose. Seen a lot of pics of that lol.

I never called anyone an idiot for running an ARB btw. What I did say is an ARB isn't any safer in 99% of traffic collisions out there. Which is true. It doesn't dissipate energy so at low speeds you are more likely to suffer from whiplash. At high speeds, even though they swear airbag compatibility, the timing is likely off which will result in the airbag no functioning correctly. We all know how that plays out.

I love my hidden winch bumper. I still get a "canoe anchor point " but I also go the look of the stock truck. I don't run around telling people it makes my truck safer though, because it doesn't.

works for the puny mule deer in AZ...Idaho moose... forgetaboutit....not much will other than a semi truck...and even then!

IIRC ARB designed them for roo and dingo strikes (dingo ate my baby! sorry couldn't resist!), and not for vehicle crashes...though if anything, they sometimes prevent people from pulling out in front of you...at times I see people look twice at that big ugly thing...intimidating if anything. Works great for jay walkers too! ;)

While we are right off topic, do you ever wonder if one day they'll make bumper mods and other things like that illegal? With all of this work going into designing safer front ends for pedestrians and traffic collisions, and not animal collisions because you probably going to eat a deer through the windshield with the new front ends, do you think at some point they'll make it law to keep those things intact. Sort of like how the emissions system is supposed to stay intact.

Or maybe they'll just allow you to sue for more if someone changed their bumper and someone was hurt, potentially, as a result of it. Just something I've wondered aloud at a few offroad campfire meets that usually start a pretty spirited discussion.

I like how you think we are arguing...
Here let me post link to Official Toyota website.... AGain for safety equipment in Hilux.

Let me know if you would like me to repost that again.. Now feel free to contact Toyota Europe and argue with them because apparently you know better what safety futures are missing.

In order to argue you have to have some point, you dont. You are wrong and Toyota website proves it...

Also here let me post ARB bumper testimonials..
    http://www.arbusa.com/Contact/Testimonials.aspx

You have plastic bumper over the steel bumper ? Thats like wearing underwear on the top of your pants.

Here is some of the crash testing done by TJM

I would think if it can stop concrete block it will stop other things too.

From my understanding they are trying to ban them in OZ on residential vehicles, they are pretty strict on vehicle modification over there. I would imagine it is a matter of time before it happens here....remember cash for clunkers, they are trying to get the old stuff off the road, and make us buy new. Might even be a day where it is illegal to drive a vehicle if it was built before a certain date. I see it coming.

I can't remember where but I saw where several manufacturers are trying to make it illegal to work on your own vehicle. I imagine making aftermarket accessories is a logical next step. We live in a nanny state.

I read that article some where too...IIRC John Deere is in on it too. Basically their machines are their intellectual property, even though we pay for it we actually don't "own" it.

IIRC it has more to do with not being able to access or reprogram electronic features of your truck. Basically locking down the diagnostics and programming which would make it illegal to tune and program the ECU.

I get why it concerns some people and I am not for that case at all. However, there is a big difference between saying you can't modify the ECU code and you can't put on new rims.

I can kinda see it when messing with the ECU.

Correct. It keeps the stock look of the front end which I like while I still gain ground clearance, some protection off road up front, a better approach angle, and a sturdy winch/recovery point. @BlueT is still going isn't he :p.

He can't figure out what the ignore button does. If he doesn't like what I have to say maybe he should, oh I don't know, act like an adult and ignore it.

Won't happen though. Just like he refuses to read my entire post and instead go on rants about what he, incorrectly, interprets from my statements that every other normal person on here seems to understand. So he'll just keep fighting that good fight for himself, posting videos about bumper safety from the 80's, quoting personal opinions on a manufacturers website, and quoting EU Toyota Hilux safety pictures when I was clearly, as stated, talking about the Thai base model as shown below. Yup I did peak. I promise, it'll be the last time ;).
