Test fit one before you buy if possible, the backspacing is much higher meaning the wheels will be sucked in more than stock first gen wheels. You might need to run spacers.

so if im reading this correctly the Factory TRD have a back spacing of 5.5 inches and the 1st gen have 4.54 inches of back spacing sooooo that means the TRD rims have plenty of clearance? (how exactly do i read this?)

the higher the number the more it sucks in the wheel well.

The second gens have a wider stance so the suspension sticks out further, a flatter faced wheel is used.

Rule is the lower the back space and offset the wider the wheel will sit.

fit yes, rub most likely. they may rub the upper control arm and or frame.

Since its a large diameter you will have no issues with clearing the brake calipers.

oops i edited that post o well. the 17 inch wheel should blend nicely with tundra front brakes (that would be the next planned mod)

Thats what I have, I am running a 4.5 back spacing though.
    06+ Tundra 231mm brake kit.

17x8.5 wheel with -6 offset, I still rub frame at full lock with articulation.

You can get brand new warrantied 17x8.5 wheels for $400 all day from Discount tire.

These I got for $125 each but you can get a different style no problem starting under $100 a wheel.

dang i like that. So why didnt you go with the 199mm kit vs the 231? just cause or did you also read about warping issues on the 199's?

I did, I have the 199 kit in the closet, the 231mm kit was a recent upgrade, the 199mm kit felt like my old stock brakes, and I will give them to my dad with his 01 Tundra.. he needs new brakes anyways.
