What about the Ford ranger. I know I'm exaggerating, but can anyone recall an actual exterior update that wasn't just a label. For example the "splash" version. What a joke!

Nope. Ford let that truck wither on the vine. Sometimes I wonder if 1st gen owners wish Toyota would of done that lol.

Weird cause someone earlier in the 3rd gen fanboy club swore up and down it was all new and not the same suspension components. Not hating just saying, knew when I saw it at the autoshow.

Weird that the rear swaybar doesn't fit the refreshed truck.

Not trying to start something, but the 2016 Prototype I saw on the weekend in Cochrane appeared to have different shocks, not the 4600 series derived TRD shock, on the same mounts as the 2nd gen. Check my media for pictures and judge for yourself. So basically 3rd gen haters can be happy because the shock mounts are the same and 3rd gen lovers can claim the suspension is new. It's a win win :D.

Just eyeballing the drive shaft and mounts it appeared that they have made some adjustments to the truck as well. More tinkering rather than anything totally new.

If anything I walked away feeling this truck is basically an evolutionary change from the current Tacoma. New engine, transmission, and the lines are definitely more modern in person than the 2nd gen. I also didn't hate the grill that up close and the chin only bugged me from a certain angle to the side. Otherwise I thought it was a sharp truck with a totally different interior up front. In the back seats the DC interior was EXACTLY the same.

Well I can say for sure the oil will cost more because it takes 0w-20, which is a synthetic oil weight.

I'm all synthetic now, if you do it yourself it's still cheaper.

Yup. I do synthetic changed myself as well. I did find it interesting though that the oil weight now matched everything else from Toyota.

Should be cheaper for production and toyotacare costs. Yet the msrp increases...

I did "perceive" a >1 mpg gain after changing engine, dif and MT to synth.
