Yesterday I noticed my truck started a bit slower then normal well last night it got the dreaded crank crank click. It's time for a new battery can anyone recommend a one? I like the idea of the optima yellow top but have read bad reviews. Also what is the largest size battery I can drop in?

I sill be adding a dual battery kit in the next couple of months

I've had exceptional luck with the NAPA "optima style" batteries. I use 'em in farm tractors, which is quite the harsh environment combined with sitting unused for long periods of time. Had a pair in a Dodge 3/4-ton truck that lasted almost 8 years and was still going strong when the rollback hauled the truck off after the wreck.

There's a few threads on this topic. Your lucky your battery is giving you a warning. Mine croaked last week in a grocery store parking lot with no pre- slow crank warnings at all. I guess I cant bitch too loud; I got nine years out of it. I like Interstates myself, just bought a new85 month Mega Tron 27 F with a three year free replacement for $117.00 on sale.

With all specs being equal, choose the battery with the best warranty at the lowest price point . Everything else is pretty much noise.

Optima and Interstate Batteries are both good choices

Diehard Platinum, a re-branded Odyssey battery. Battery is expensive but I trust the quality and know that it'll hold up in this oppressive summer heat!

I went the Walmart way, 24F, to replace the 27F OEM. I recommend checking the charging system with a voltmeter to make sure the battery didn't die due to non-charging alternator. It's a quick and simple test with a $10 voltmeter. http://www.aa1car.com/library/charging_checks.htm

    +1.

I was a loyal Optima user but the last two I've had gave less than 2 years each. I've since stopped caring about brand names.

2 years, ouch, especially considering they are pricey compared to say a diehard or duralast.

Have you check if battery is dead or just need a refill with distilled water.... ? You are in Dallas I would guess your water probably evaporated ..
You can probably save yourself money. Your truck is fairly new so doubt the plates are dead in the battery.

Otherwise what you want is 27F battery (thats larger than 24F) for trucks with Tow package..

If i'm not in a bind and have the cash, DieHard is my first choice, in my vehicles and in my boats.

I'm surprised by the amount of Duralast recommendations here. I always equated anything made by Autozone to crap...seems their batteries aren't that bad from what you guys have said here
