Axxess ASWC1 interface install nightmare

Has anybody installed this? We followed instructions online which varied from instructions in the book that came with the part. Then followed the book to no avail. We could get the volume to work but not the mode or the search. Then mode but not volume. Nothing would work in unison. After 5 hours of headache we gave up. Does anybody have any info on this pos module and have you made it work? I'm beginning to think it's a bad part. ....

 

I hooked up the same one in my truck. Check out *********, they had a video on how to hook it up. Seemed like it was pretty straight forward.

 

My educated guess is that it was wired incorrectly. Or you have a very rare, defective unit. These are typically very straight forward and easy to use. Especially in tacomas earlier than 2013. What type of radio did you install it with? Have you contacted Metra support?

 

i just recently installed one even adding bluetooth phone controls . works perfect .

Yep looked there. Thought we had wired exactly like they did it but it didn't work.

Called Metra but all I got was voicemail and I couldn't leave a message. Said to call back. My buddies and I think it's a bad unit. I mean we wired it exactly like their online guide instructed.

I tapped into the violet/white wire, the yellow/black wire and the red/white wire per instructions. Connected the brown wire from the controller to the blue/yellow wire from the radio. The aswc recognized it was a JVC radio. Volume up and down works. No function from seek or mode. I'm stumped.

 

Turns out, the installation manual that comes with the ASWC1 is garbage. I will post pics later of each wire used and where it is connected to the harness. Working just fine now. Thank you all for your help.
