When traversing a relatively long section of rock is it best to keep the truck in 2wd, or is binding not much of an issue?

it depends on how steep it is...i was recently driving in the maze (to the maze overlook and NOT to the dollhouse which is a more challenging road) and rarely used 4 hi (never had to use 4 lo) and about 90% of the time was in 2wd (including the entire Flint Trail down the orange cliffs). that road was pretty gnarly for my money but not as technically challenging as elephant hill (i've never done EH but i did hike up the first hill one time to check it out and it probably can be done in 4 hi all the way...the back side of EH is steeper)...by the way i have a stock 2010 Tacoma
